Mixing Rock and Pop Songs

Kody Yardley on SoundBetter

If you want a mix that competes with the industry professional mixes, I can give you that. I take every mix absolutely seriously and will not settle until I've got something that I'm proud to put my name on.

I graduated from Utah Valley University with a bachelor's in Audio Engineering. I've worked with many local bands, recording and mixing projects. I have honed my mixing skills over the years and have settled on a workflow and a process that gets results.

Interview with Kody Yardley

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Both. Both of these have something to offer, and I like to use the best of each.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Mixing is magical. There's nothing quite like working on a mix. It's just something I love doing.

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: Rock, pop, and heavy rock. I also work on electronic music.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: I think the most important part of a mix is usually the drums, so I have always concentrated on that the most. And I'm pretty good at it.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: I bring clarity, warmth, and excitement to my mixes.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I have a pair of Adam-A7 monitors, a Motu interface, and a pretty sturdy and powerful PC build. I also have a ton of Waves, Izotope, Native Instruments, IK Multipedia, Soundtoys, and Valhalla DSP plugins just to name a few.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I mix mostly rock and pop, but sometimes other genres like hip hop or electronic music.
