Esli on SoundBetter

I write songs & toplines with catchy memorable hooks that drive fresh and meaningful lyrics

I write great melody & lyrics with a reference, so if you want a topline that sounds like an existing song you love, without feeling like a copy: I'm your man.

I can help you finish a song, or write it from scratch based on the theme you need and your own experiences so you feel it's all you.

I can also write a vocal melody on top of your instrumental if that's all you need, or lyrics to the melody you already have. Or both!

Harmonies also come natural to me, in a way that they sound unique and add depth to the melody.

So reach out and let's make a hit together!

It was our second collaboration and I have to say that I really like the way Esli works: he creates small pieces of melody, with different options, and we build up from there. The outcame is very good. In addition Esli is very easy to work with. Highly recommended!

Esli is a generous songwriter: he does not hold back when it comes to give options, inputs, variations. He is really approachable and he has a good ear for catchy melodies. I really enjoyed working with him and I appreciated his efforts to write music on lyrics in a foreign language. Excellent result - I will work with him again for sure.

Interview with Esli

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I'm super proud of the song I wrote with my buddy Gus: "Unbroken", which has thousands of spins on Spotify. And also here at SoundBetter I worked with an awesome Italian artist that released the song we worked on together, called "Disarmata". I wrote melodies for the existing lyrics, which was a cool challenge. And that's just to name a couple, cause there are many more!

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm writing toplines for a few clients, 5 to 10 custom songs a month, my own releases, cinematic and pop-punk covers just for fun, and always thinking about writing and pitching for sync/licensing

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Absolutely, I've work with many talented people. For example: John Clinebell, Stephen von Heyking, Gus Barraca, Kris Bradley (BomFox Productions)

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: That they'll be satisfied with our work together and the process will be fun.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Creating music that excites people. When a collaborator likes what I send them it always makes me smile :)

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: I always ask if I can listen to their existing music, and what their reference is. That way I can understand where they are, and what they're aiming towards.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Follow your gut and choose to collaborate with whoever inspires more trust and also makes the project their own. No one will care for your project more than you do, but your collaborators should get pretty close.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: My acoustic guitar, my Macbook, a mic, some photos, and the Bible (the last two for inspiration!)

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I grew up listening to 90's Punk Rock and I just needed to play the guitar like that, so at twelve years old I started learning pretty much by myself after my brother taught me ONE chord, lol. I leaded a few bands as singer & guitar player, did my gigs, had a blast, and discovered that what I enjoyed the most was not performing my music in front of others, but creating it. I've been writing songs for almost thirty years now, and I've been releasing music since 2014. The best projects have always been collaborations, where I write the music and other talented creators record and produce it. That's why I love SoundBetter so much, I can be myself and provide what I'm best at to help out other artists and we all benefit from the experience.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Fresh, catchy, memorable and, depending on the project, it can be emotive & heartfelt or epic & cinematic.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: Tommee Profitt. He produces such huge and epic sounding music, and I know I could write the perfect song that would benefit us both from each other's styles. There are many more artists I'd love to work with, but he's the first that came to mind.

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Listen to lots of music. LOTS. And not just the one you already love, but try to discover new music every week. When you breathe in great music, you end up breathing out great music, born from what you've learned and shaping itself into something unique and beautiful.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: Rock, Pop, and the wonderful combination of the two.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: Writing melodies and lyrics that fit the client's vision.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: Personality, and not just my own but also the client's, trying to capture their story the best I can in a way that it feels true and exciting to them.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: First I gather all the info, listen to the audio/references provided, study them, and surf the resulting inspiration with my guitar and voice to create something new and original. Then I record demo/s and show them to the client. I usually provide more than one option to ensure they find what they need, which is usually on the first try. But when it's not I keep the communication flowing and use their feedback to nail down the next demo. I also bring transparency to the table and respect in every message. I value the client's time just as much as mine.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: I've got all the stuff a songwriter needs: I few guitars (both acoustic & electric) with amps and pedals, a piano, mics (both condenser & dynamic) a powerful Mac loaded with Logic Pro + the usual gear (interface, cables, and the rest of goodies).

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: I'm a huge fan of Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, and Sasha Alex Sloan. They're my main source of inspiration, but I'm constantly discovering and learning from new music.

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: I mostly write melodies that are catchy, memorable, and that match the reference provided. If you want a melody that sounds like an existing song you love, without feeling like a copy: I'm your man.
