Interview with Emill Núñez

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Producing and Mixing of "Hasta Hoy" by Volcano, was a very cool a experience working with the band, they are such nice peoples, and getting what they had in their minds with the song realised.

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: I have 7 years on this, I started very young at 12 years old, producing (or trying to) hiphop beats, later I started to learn to play guitar and piano and worked with mostly personal projects, later with some friends and go on. Actually I'm certificated at music production and working with some local artists/bands.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: Is a fusion of all my different influences: Rock, Merengue, Bachata, Progressive Metal, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Pop... it's very hard to define.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: Tool, because I'm a big fan of them. This is my dream some day get work with them, the band is a great influence for me. and Emma Proulx of Men I Trust, love her voice and style.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: Is a really basic setup [Home studio setup to be honest] Macbook Pro, Focusrite 2i2, Yamaha HS5, AKG 240, Sony MDR V150, Saffire Platinum Trackmaster Pro, Some Electric, Acoustic and Classical Guitars, M-audio Keystation 49, an Electric Bass.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: In Music Production: Steven Wilson, Men I Trust, Eduardo Cabra; In Mixing: Dave Otero, Andy Wallace, Adam Nolly; and as Guitarist: Allan Holdsworth, Paul Masvidal, Chuck Schuldiner.

  13. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  14. A: Diego Raposo, it's a great music producer and mix engineer from my country.

  15. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  16. A: Composing/Producing the first EP of my band Fractured Silence. and Producing the first full album of Shy Melómano.

  17. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  18. A: Bring my best and work together to get the better result possible.

  19. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  20. A: Create new stuff, it's very exciting create something from nothing practically.

  21. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  22. A: Trust in your ears, and be you. it's no secret in music, if something works and you like it, this is the right way to do it.

  24. A: Lofi Hip-Hop, Rock, Indie Pop.
