The Apex team is very professional. This is the first time I have worked with the team and they do a great job.

They listen carefully, respond to wishes and also give professional advice. The result is impressive and it was certainly not the last time I worked with them.

So they are exactly the right people when it comes to music:)

Worked with a couple of different producers, Apex are the first time I felt as though I was working with a truly professional team. Where some producers I found felt very "loose" these guys run a super tight ship and dedicate a lot of time to helping "design" the sound that they will work towards over several projects - which was something I hadn't truly done prior to working with them. Definitely the most solid operation I've found, and seem to produce across a lot of different styles from what I've seen.

Interview with Apex Groove

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Landing a collaboration and release with Deorro with the "Titan" track was amazing. He's been one of my main inspirations in EDM with my D3FAI project, and he's from Latin America as well, so it made it even more awesome of an experience. I worked with him in this project on getting the track produced.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Worked with singers like Denny White and KNVWN in here, got amazing results and experiences with them and always recommend them to our clients when looking for vocalists.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Both. Sometimes you need a hammer, sometimes a screwdriver. We see analog and digital as just more tools that help us get different results, depending on the sound that we're aiming for.

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: Usually the most common question apart from "Can you do this style?" is "Will my track get signed?". Our answer always is that it depends a lot on other factors apart from the music itself, that we either have control over (the music, the branding, etc) or not (the label itself, what the label is looking for at the moment). We understand that this process can be difficult, so we always make sure to help our clients the most we can with this process based in our experience in the industry.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: A big misconception we often see promoted around, is that just with a great track you can make a self-sustaining real career. Great music is a major key and that's entirely true and necessary. But there's so many other aspects (Like DJing, branding, promotion, content creation) that a music project/brand needs to have on-lock in order to really grow and become self-sustaining. We can absolutely help you with great music and have that huge item crossed off the list, guaranteed, but we'll definitely recommend you to work as well on these other key aspects of a project.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: Mac, Yamaha HS8s, Prophet 6, our external HDDs full of samples and libraries, and our trusty acoustic guitar

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: We've been producing for 6-7 years at the moment. At the start for fun, and as time went by, step-by-step, we were able to make music into our full-time profession with the Agency.

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

  16. A: Groovy. With dance music the groove and feel of the track is the most important thing to nail down, so we always focus on maximizing that feeling for the listener

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: We'd say easily Daft Punk. Everything they touch turns into gold, and they have been one (if not the) main innovators behind dance music, and a huge inspiration musically for our projects.

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: By far the attention to detail and quality we give to all our projects. Either the tracks themselves, to our client's experience when working with us, as well as the results they get with our projects.

  21. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  22. A: Listening to our music very loud in a club and seeing everyone's reaction

  23. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  24. A: Great music for our clients to release, as well as a great work relationship with our team.

  25. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  26. A: Groove

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: We're a 4-man team across the globe and growing, with each of us having access to our professional acoustically-treated production studios.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: Plenty. Our focus in a broad genre like EDM definitely makes us study and gain inspiration from plenty of the titans of each subgenre. So from guys like Martin Garrix and Nicky Romero for Pop / Progressive House, to Fisher and Chris Lake for Tech House. Since EDM it's very broad, each one of our producers focuses in a few particular set of subgenres to completely nail down.

  31. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  32. A: All of the music for all our clients, and multiple projects/brands of our own

  33. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  34. A: We definitely want to know about the core concept of your brand/project first, and then the general direction of your track with a few reference tracks.

  35. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  36. A: Definitely have a solid idea of the direction of the project you'll like to work on, that way we can really understand and nail that vibe / feeling that you're looking for. We also highly appreciate someone that's forward-thinking and very committed to the growth of their music careers.

  37. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  38. A: Feel free to be as creative as you can musically! But we definitely recommend to mix and master your tracks heavily based on a professional reference track.

  39. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  40. A: The biggest subgenres in EDM like Commercial/Pop House, Progressive House, Future House, Future Bass, Bass House, Tech House, Techno.

  41. Q: What's your typical work process?

  42. A: With the references that our clients provide us, we decide on a general direction for the track and start with it in mind. We will go after that based on our gut feeling, the feedback of the clients (Very important!) and our team's so we can refine it until it's ready.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: We specialize in Ghost Productions, Co-Productions and Mixing/Mastering for most EDM Genres
