Abriël is a Dutch-American trumpet player based in the Amsterdam area. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Trumpet at the Amsterdam Conservatory in 2019, Abriël has established herself as a multi-facted professional across genres.
Currently the trumpet player for the Dutch and Belgian tour of Annie the Musical, she is also in the trumpet section of the prestigious Henk Meutgeert & Peter Beets New Jazz Orchestra, performing with this young big band at the major Dutch jazz festivals. Other groups Abriël is active in include; the Afrobeat band Kiala and the Afroblaster (led by former Fela Kuti guitarist Nzavotunga) and the funk big band Amsterdam Funk Orchestra.
Abriël is a versatile studio musician and has appeared on CDs of the indie bands Builder of the House and Grey Lotus, as well as the funk bands the Funkstamatics and Amsterdam Funk Orchestra. Her recordings and performances have been featured on De Wereld Draait Door, Podium Witteman and The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show (BBC6).

Her improvisational phrasing and note choices were masterful, and her use of dynamic highs and lows together with exquisite tension and expression set up a conversation in the song that was irresistibly delicious.
