Interview with Rwbel
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am working on a few releases, can't say anything else at the moment.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not yet.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Usually use digital, and incorporate some analog sounds. But for example, I use a lot high quality analog modeling plugins, they make a difference.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You won't be dissapointed.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like the whole process from the blank project to the released track.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The final price, and I give it.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People thinks that it is just pressing some random keys and job done.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How do you want to sound like?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop with Ableton Live, SSL audio interface, good pair of monitors, headphones, a midi controller.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would define it as a dark techno style with some melodic elements, I have no idea how to describe it, it just comes out from me to the outside world. Best thing, listen to it.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with the Chemical Brothers or Junkie XL, their sound design is amazing.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Work every day on your productions.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Techno music, but I can do more than just one genre.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I do believe it is perseverance, as I keep working and working and working until the job is done.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: The best thing to bring up new ideas is to listen to new music everyday, and of course working with your setup, sometimes nothing comes up, but without be working on music is going to be difficult to come up with some inspiration, so work brings me inspiration.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I dedicate fixed times every day to work on music, either sketching/producing new tracks or mixing and mastering some other already produce tracks. From time to time I change this routine when a new job comes in and needs my full attention. Some times I have done a whole remix from start to finish in just one long day.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is very humble, an Ableton setup with Maschine, a Roland TR-8, a Model D synth, a handful of very well selected plugins, as well as different pairs of monitors to check the mixes. I really think that what makes the difference is quality vs quantity and to really know what you own.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are many producers that inspire me, most of the time the classic electronic artists such as The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Massive Attack, Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier. All these great artists are pure inspirations for me, despite my sound is really different to theirs.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually produce Techno tracks on different labels. I am also requested to make remixes for other producers so they are able to put together a full EP. Sometimes, I am also requested to mix other producers work, in order to prepare their work for the mastering stage.
