Sebastian Portillo

Music Producer

Sebastian Portillo on SoundBetter

I focus on the personality of the artist, the will to invest into the career and the message. I have met Paul McCartney twice and worked internationally. My strength is to communicate with songs by creating moments. I worked where Lenny Kravitz, Lady Gaga, John Mayer and others have recorded. Making you sound great is my first priority.

I'm working as a professional music producer since 2008. My songs were used by major record companies like Sony Music and I'm regularly releasing LP's as a touring lead singer artist but I also play drums, guitars, piano, synths, bass and a bit of trumpet. My speciality is writing pop-songs with catchy lyrics in various languages (English, Spanish but also French and German) due to my international background. I also have a diploma in popular music and sound technology from LIPA (The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) since 2002. My clients hire me for full productions, instrumentals or to enhance their vocals. I have studied physics at the university and own a personal recording studio doing pre- and post production for them if needed. That's why I offer my services in editing and my goal is to make your vocals sound great because they are very important for geat productions. If you're interested in a full production, I can produce complete tracks with lyrics and melodies for you. My productions are at the highest level of today's musical standards. If you want, I will arrange them, create exciting moments and hooks in your style for radio, live or Spotify.

My goal is to work with talented people who have a high potential to triumph in the music industry, to support them by offering my services at affordable prices and enjoy their success as their music producer.

Interview with Sebastian Portillo

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: It's the creation process: From the moment where I listen to the explanations of my clients, when I try to understand what they like as they describe how they want to sound and what they're trying to achieve musically to the moment where they deeply enjoy what they hear and even sometimes don't believe that it is their music because they sound so good and professional.

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: Clients often tell me that they are fascinated by the diversity of ideas and the creativity that I can add to their project. I would say that my strongest skill is writing songs, arrange many different ideas to create something exciting that lets the vocals sound great.

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: They bring their vision and Ideas for their music and I write, arrange, record, mix and master their music in my recording studio or in another recording studio that is suitable for their budget and style. I support them during the vocal sessions and arrange things to make their vocals shine with the help of post production.

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Clients should have a clear idea about who their fans are and why. I found out personally that one way to find it out is by asking the question: "Why do I exist - as an artist?". To understand what separates an artist from everybody else is discovering a personal style, attitude and reason for potential success.

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I'm working in the music industry since 2004. Initially, I was earning money as a songwriter. In 2008 I founded my own record label and since 2014 I'm producing music also for other artists.
