Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Yes! 3 actually. 1-Invest in someone to help you set it all up if you are learning! Life is short and your time is valuable. 2-Collaboration is everything. 3-Map your vocal tracks with color codes, easy to cut, copy and paste.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: pop, rock, Americana, country, folk
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: vocals
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have been told I bring a very uniquely rich and warm vocal sound to just about any genre of music. I get an unexpected and still familiar melody on my top line jobs and I work fast.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First, I have a chat with you about what you see or feel for the song and honestly, often they want to just turn it to me and let me run with it and that's cool too. Either way, first we connect by phone or Zoom for about 30 minutes. Then I listen to the track and grab a melody for it intuitively - record vocals sounds only to it and playback to see if it moves me. Then I map out the song structure and write lyric, then lay down vocals for first cut.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work from home and have a room dedicated to vocals. I've got a small vocal booth with an Avantone mic to record into Logic ProX.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: everyone I work with inspires me- honestly the musical world gets a bum rap sometimes but I have found that the people I get to create with are honest, talented and kind.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I get hired to do right now is to add vocals to an existing track or topline a track.
