I'll ask you to send me your material (demos, rough mixes, single stems etc.) along with some information about what you're looking for. The more direction provided the better! Let me know any specific directions you have as far as style, dynamics, riffs, etc. I want to bring your vision into reality! Then we can figure out an exact delivery date. I don't set a limit on revisions.

Interview with Dan Snyder

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I just finished working on a full length album for Thomas Lavine where I got to co-write, co-produce, arrange and play a lot of the instrumentation for the entire thing. Thomas is such a great writer. I loved the process as much as the outcome.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes, I would highly recommend Josh Sudduth for any production and mixing needs.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will give your project my full attention and service because the work you do is important and every detail matters.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you make this sound like... and yes, yes we can :)
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I feel like people tend to believe that musicians who perform on a certain level are probably always short on time. I view time management as a skill that is as important as your ability to play your instrument.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have any reference tracks for what you have in mind and how do you want it to make you feel?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I would be honored to be chosen for your project. Despite all of the descriptions, I feel adept at many different genres and I'm confident that we can create something that will fit your song very well.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as organic and often raw. One of my favorite things to do is play through a song once before charting it and then keep any "happy accidents".
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I think it would be a career highlight to work with The National because I have a simple yet percussive style that would pair well with their drum parts.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I try to bring a less is more mentality to every song. Simple parts sprinkled with my own style of arpeggiated lifts when applicable.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I'm used to clients sending tracks remotely. I'll take several passes using more than one sound so that the producer has plenty of options. Making sure that a client is happy is important to me so I typically try to deliver in less time than we've agreed on.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am producing a couple of indie rock/folk albums and keeping a full tour schedule.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! I don't believe one is more valuable than another. They can each provide something completely different.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I believe that art is one of the most important things to humanity and that each individual's pursuit of it is valuable and important. Getting to be a small part of that is what motivates me to keep working in the music industry.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would bring a Gibson J45, UAD Volt, Laptop, vocal mic and a Yamaha CP73.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started in church music as a keyboardist nearly two decades ago. Then I had several years touring with my own band (Paper Lights) before becoming a full time auxiliary musician and producer for other artists.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: If you introduce or take away two instruments at a time for different sections of an arrangement, it keeps your production interesting and the listeners attention.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I get asked to do a lot of Indie, Folk, Americana, Rock and Country music. Most often I'm working hard to make sure things feel organic and natural but not too polished.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I am great at arranging parts for a track that provide an intentional soundscape and mood that compliment the other instrumentation.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use Logic and Ableton for DAWs. I have several keyboards, pianos, organs and synthesizers as well as all of the sample based go to's.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love everything Peter Katis produces, Noah Gundersen, Zach Bryan, Jonsi, Bon Iver, The National etc..
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am most often hired for Piano, Rhodes, Wurlitzer, B3 Hammond Organ, Synthesizers and background vocal harmonies.
