Interview with OrfaN.Music

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I started classic piano studies at the age of 5, but growing at the heart of 80's, my favorite genre became Electro pop. So being influenced and inspired by this decade, I came up with Synths, Sequencers, Drum machines, Multitrack tape recorders and Atari computer with Pro24 and later the first Cubase! At early 90's I started working at Greek night clubs as a keyboard perfomer with famous Greek artists, making at the same time my first Arrangements and Compositions. Since then I made many records as an Arranger and Composer, had a Collaboration with Universal Greece in many projects as a Producer, and also a Collaboration with two major companies that made music for TV shows, Films, and Radio jingles. Although my experience got high, I never stopped following new music trends, investing in new plugins and gear, and studying new sound and mixing techniques.

  3. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  4. A: The most common type is Arranging or Remix

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Well well well.... I really love that fat analog sound. But.. now I went digital because the ease and speed you work with is much greater. On the other hand, now the plugins have come very close to simulating the analog audio and everything ends up in an mp3 so the difference in the sound is negligible. But .. being a 80's child, my Heart will always beat Analog.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: My promise is that I will do my best without distinctions.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: In my Home studio in witch I make all the programming, the heart of my setup is an Apple imac 27'' running Cubase 10.5 loaded with many plugins and vsti's, RME babyface pro soundcard and Dynaudio LYD 48 as my main speakers, a Casio Previa el.piano and some Controllers for input, a Rode NT1A mic, and a couple of headphones. In my Pro studio there is a PC running also Cubase 10.5 with the same plugins, Universal audio 6176, Spl gain station preamplifier, Uad Apollo silver Quad, Uad Octo, Dynaudio Bm15 A speakers, Neumann U-87, Various controllers, and accesories

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: Well the most common is "When it will be ready?" and my answer is... "As soon as possible!" :P

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: To have Logical expectations

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Many times it's the perception that what I do is as easy as making an office job. It is not easy at all. It's all about Inspiration that needs Experience, Knowledge and the Right handling of your tools to achive your goal.

  17. Q: What's your typical work process?

  18. A: My most common procedure is to figure in my mind the result i want to have. I am trying to "hear" it in my mind first wherever I am. Then I am sitting in my Home studio and try to make a basic Construction of the idea that i came up with. In any case all the programming stuff is made in home studio and all other Recordings of live musicians, all vocals etc in my main studio. The mix of the hole thing is in the box so I can do it in both places, considering there are the same plugins, very good speakers, and very nice acoustic treatment.

  19. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  20. A: Yes, I know my favorite guitarist. We 've made many productions together, and I would DEFINETLY recommend him to all clients! His name is Foivosz !!!

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: Commercial but Unique at the same time cause I am not trying to copy anyone

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Be yourself in terms of creation, and learn from older and more experienced in terms of Technique. Try to be Pro.
