Interview with Mario Kuzmanoski

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m especially proud of projects where I’ve taken a track from an initial idea to a fully finished, release-ready record. One highlight for me was a track that received positive feedback from Luca Pretolesi, which meant a lot given his level and experience in mixing and mastering. My role typically involves production, arrangement, mixing, and mastering, with a strong focus on achieving a modern, clean, and powerful sound

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m currently working on several electronic music projects, including production, mixing, and mastering for house and tech house tracks, as well as developing my own releases.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I focus on my own work, but SoundBetter has many talented professionals. If a project requires something outside my expertise, I’m always open to recommending the right specialist to ensure the best result.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I mainly work digitally for precision, flexibility, and efficiency, especially in modern production and mixing workflows. At the same time, I’m a big fan of the analog world, I love the warmth, character, and imperfections it brings, and I use analog synths and tools to add that extra depth when needed. In the end, it’s all about achieving the best possible sound, regardless of the tools

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise is clear communication, professional quality, and a final result that meets modern industry standards. I focus on delivering a clean, powerful, and polished track while respecting the client’s vision and deadlines.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I enjoy turning ideas into finished records. Taking something raw and shaping it into a polished, powerful track that connects with people is the most rewarding part of what I do.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: The most common question is “Can you make my track sound professional?” My answer is yes, with the right material and clear direction, I can bring your track to a clean, powerful, and industry-standard level.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That mixing and mastering can fix everything. A great final result starts with good production, sound selection, and arrangement. My job is to enhance and elevate, not completely rebuild a track.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I usually ask about references, the desired sound and direction, the purpose of the track (club, streaming, etc.), deadlines, and whether they have stems or need full production. This helps me deliver exactly what they’re looking for.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Look for someone who understands your vision and communicates clearly. A great result comes from collaboration, so references, direction, and feedback are very important.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: A laptop with Ableton Live, a reliable audio interface, a good pair of headphones, a MIDI controller, and a microphone. With just these tools, I can produce, record, mix, and finish full tracks anywhere.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been working in music production for around 15 years. I started by learning the fundamentals of production and sound design, and over time I developed my skills in mixing and mastering. Throughout the years, I’ve worked across different styles, but I’ve specialized in electronic music, building a strong, modern sound and a professional workflow that meets current industry standards.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is modern, clean, and energetic, with a strong focus on groove and low-end. I aim for a sound that works both in clubs and on streaming platforms, combining technical precision with musical emotion.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I’d love to work with artists like Dom Dolla or John Summit because they combine strong groove, clean production, and global appeal. Their sound represents the direction I aim for in my own productions.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Focus on balance before plugins. A well-balanced mix with proper levels and sound selection will always sound better than over-processing. If it sounds good with minimal plugins, you’re on the right track.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I mainly work on electronic music, especially house, tech house, and EDM. I also work on vocal-driven tracks, including pop and deep house

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is creating a clean, powerful, and modern mix that translates well across all systems. I focus on clarity, low-end control, and energy, making sure every track sounds competitive with today’s industry standards.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring a modern, professional sound with strong attention to detail, energy, and emotion. My focus is on making tracks sound not just good, but competitive, something that can work both on streaming platforms and in clubs. I also bring creative input, helping elevate ideas into something unique and impactful.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start by understanding the client’s vision and references. Then I build or refine the production, focusing on arrangement, energy, and groove. After that, I move into detailed mixing and final mastering to ensure the track sounds clean, powerful, and competitive with industry standards. I keep communication clear and provide updates throughout the process.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work in a treated studio using professional tools including Ableton Live, UAD hardware, high-end plugins (FabFilter, Waves, Soundtoys), and accurate monitoring with ADAM Audio speakers and Beyerdynamic headphones. My setup is designed for precision, clarity, and translation across all systems.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by producers like Dom Dolla, John Summit, Chris Lorenzo, and artists pushing the modern house sound forward. I also follow engineers like Luca Pretolesi for mixing and mastering, especially for achieving powerful and clean club-ready records.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I mainly work on music production, mixing, and mastering for electronic genres like house, tech house, and EDM. I also do vocal processing and arrangement, helping artists turn ideas into fully polished, release-ready tracks with a strong, modern sound.
