Interview with Alex Goroshko

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: What I love most about my job is being part of the entire creative journey, from the very first idea to the final polished track. I enjoy arranging, recording, producing, and mixing — each step brings its own challenges and joys.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: I usually work on soulful, emotional music across genres like blues, rock, soul, and heartland-inspired singer-songwriter material. I also produce and record orchestral arrangements, string ensembles, and soundtrack music for film, TV, and video games. My approach adapts to each project, whether it’s a band session, solo artist, or full orchestral recording, always aiming for a polished, release-ready result.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: I bring both professional expertise and musical sensitivity to every song. Whether it’s a subtle vocal nuance, a powerful instrumental performance, or a full orchestral arrangement, I focus on capturing emotion and energy while ensuring clarity, balance, and impact.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: My setup is a hybrid system, blending the warmth and character of large-format analog consoles, premium outboard gear like Elysia processors and Telegraph Audio preamps, with the precision of modern digital tools, including Antelope Audio interfaces. The mic locker features a wide range of high-quality microphones, including Neumann, Antelope Audio, Cascade Fathead, DPA, and more — perfect for capturing vocals, instruments, or orchestral sections with clarity and depth. For mixing and mastering, I combine analog outboard with top-tier plugins, delivering polished, release-ready results. Whether you need a single vocal recorded, a band session, or a full orchestral recording, my studio is fully equipped to make it happen.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: I’m inspired by artists who bring deep emotion and storytelling into their music — from legends like Ray Charles, Bruce Springsteen, and Joe Bonamassa, to modern voices like John Mayer and Richie Kotzen. On the production side, I admire the work of Quincy Jones, T Bone Burnett, Kevin Shirley and Rick Rubin for their ability to create timeless, authentic sound. Their balance of musicality and production craft drives me to bring the same passion and honesty into every project I work on.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: Most often, I help artists and bands take their songs from raw ideas to fully produced, release-ready tracks. This includes arranging, recording live instruments or even full ensembles, and mixing/mastering with a hybrid workflow. Many of my clients come to me for professional mixes that translate well across all platforms, as well as for orchestral recordings and soundtrack work.

  13. Q: Analog or digital and why?
