Interview with Pricetone Recording Studios
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Pricetone Studios is state of the art top to bottom. The studio was designed from the ground up by Sean Price, the owner & lead engineer of Pricetone. To compete with the biggest studios in LA successful recording studios have to be immaculate and the acoustical treatment must be prioritized. No parallel walls, no untreated flat surfaces or 90 degree corners, room in room construction, and cutting edge equipment. It's a construction worker and studio owner nightmare but when done right makes recording, editing, mixing, and mastering a dream come true. It speeds up the back and forth between engineer and artist because when they leave the studio sounding great you leave in your car sounding great.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hiphop, R&B, Pop, Chill, Trap
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Engineers at Pricetone are not new to the game. They have to be well versed in music and technology. Knowing just the technical side is not enough. They are required to know how melodies work, chord progressions, how to find the right key that works for each song, and how to create mind bending vocal doubles/layers efficiently.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: We love music that inspires emotion and sounds musically pleasing. There is no label or genre for that. As engineers we are not genre specific. Instead we are technique specific. We put our selves in the seat of your audience and create sounds/music based on what your audience craves.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: We specialize in vocal production. All equipment and expertise has been geared towards developing new techniques and tricks providing artists with a unique vocal sound that works with their voice and song choice. Looking for a specific sound or effect? We know how to get that sound you're looking for.
