Endorse Tate SimmsA consummate pro...this guy can do it all. I've worked Tate on many live gigs...he's got the chops to pull any song out of his back pocket, even the obscure stuff..seamlessly. His personal style is original, edgy, fun, and subdued and beautiful when the vibe calls for it. He brings a cool factor to the stage and a uniqueness to studio. If you need guitars and/or vocals don't think twice, hire him!
I dont't have a deep knowledge of musik. But to hear Tate Simms play his guitar brings goose bumps on my skin and his rythm feeling forces me to dance. I am very appreciative that I had the chance to hear him live in Germany. I hope I will get this chance again. Meanwhile I am a fan of his internet videos. I am so amased about his diversity and bandwidth: a pure musician from the finest.

GreetingsI was watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction the other day and I realized that Tate Simms is as good as if not better than most of those cats who were playing and getting honored. I am never notamazed by this guy.Like Tony the Tiger says,"He's Great!!"
Interview with Tate Simms
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I just released a full length album of my own recently and I am very proud of it because the music is the best that I've every done and it's so different from the last album I did a few years ago. I can hear the progression of what I've learned and how much better my production has gotten in such a short amount of time. I started as just a guitarist and singer/performer. Now I consider myself a full blown producer/writer/ and arranger. It makes me very happy.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm always writing so right now I'm getting a new single getting ready for release. I try and release a new single almost every month. This one is a love song for all of the Pretty Ladies out there. The next one will be a dance tune. The one after that will probably be something more funky. I like to keep changing it up. That way I stay energized and excited. It's so much fun...
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: A dear friend of mine from NY named Jesse Wagner. Very talented and has worked with many recording artists lije Duran Duran, Stevie Van Zandt and Nile Rogers to name a few.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital because this is 2024 and the time that is saved with new technology can't be over stated. Plus the art form has come so far in such a short amount of time and is changing so rapidly, in the right hands you can get any sound that you need and make it sound authentic very quickly. I am a total believer that you still should know how to play actual instruments because that always helps with the creative process and imagination wise. It also helps with the true soul of the music. You don't want music to sound too predictable or robotic and stale. It should have a life of it's own long after the music has been written.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise that they will get a project that they will love. I won't stop until the customer is satisfied and I'm sure that the project will surpass their expectations which is a great feeling and very rewarding to hear.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love doing what I love. It's not a job when you get to do what you love. It is hard work but actually it doesn't feel that way because I really love what I do.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Who's your favorite artists and who do you relate to musically. I was bought up on many different genres of music so my answer is pretty vast. I love everything from Prince. James Brown, Earth, Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder To Kiss and Motley Crue. That's probably why my music has so many bits of different feels to them.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What type of music are they looking for in the project. Who are some of their favorite artists and what type of time restrictions do they have if any.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Customers can be sure that they will get a quality project done with imagination, professionalism and efficiency. It always bothers me when people take forever to finish anything. If you know what you're doing it should come easily and not take longer even though you want everything to be done correctly.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My acoustic guitar, I guess this island has electricity so I would take my computer, my mic my bass and my headphones.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Never be afraid to be cliche because a lot those types of saying resinate with listeners because it feels familiar.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually tend to work on RnB soul, Dance, Funk Rock and Pop styles.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my production with the instrumentation that I use on projects to make them sound bigger than your basic song writer.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring my unique spin to the music. I like to think that I really don't sound like anyone else but me. That helps of course with the originality of the project.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once I have a concept in mind like a title or an idea that helps me to start and continue with the writing process. Once I have those in play the work usually goes pretty quickly.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use the state of the arts Pro Tools Set up with any type of sound you could possibly imagine or need for your production.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'm a huge Beatle fan so I would have to say Sir Paul McCartney. If it wasn't for the Beatles I would have a different line of work...
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love listening to great orchestrastration. It's very inspirational to every genre I'm working on at the time
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I get a lot of calls for vocals, guitar and bass riffs. I'm also an accomplished composer.
