I worked with Dragaan on my short film, Run. Hide. Pray. He carefully listens to your vision and demands. Dragaan was able to create a beautiful piece for the film — a blend between classic horror films and that Catholic theme which is characteristic of the film. He’s extremely responsable and very responsive to your messages. His work is outstanding, high-quality. What he created for RHP was perfect. He’s multitalented without any doubts. I would definitely work with him again.

Worked with Dragaan on a film where he was both the lead composer and music producer. His easy-going style made our collaboration effortless. He was able to interpret our tone and style naturally and created a product that seamlessly matched our narrative. Just a punctual and chill dude who produces awesome music.

Interview with Dragaan

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: Eclectic. I like to grab influences from everywhere in order to get the right sound for my music and vision.

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: Tyler, The Creator -- he is unfiltered in his communication and does not have any boundaries when it comes to musical creation. Anything that fits the vibe, goes.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: Use templates to make your workflow easier and quicker for vocals, mixing, production, etc. Not only will it be quicker but your custom templates will make your sound have its own unique charm.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Recently, I have been working on pop, hip hop, and ballads. I am familiar with scoring films and background music for games.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: Maintaining a great work environment where people can be themselves.

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: Positive and judgement-free creativity. I always want to make sure that the people I'm working with are comfortable with expressing their true selves in their own work.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: When I start work on music, I can start from any direction in the creative process. If it's music production, I can start with rhythm and drums, constructing melody and chord progressions, or create loops and samples from scratch. I like to work with what the artist/client has in mind instead of forcing my own vision that an artist/client might not feel is a good fit. I like to work with people and make sure that they are completely satisfied with the creative direction. If it's vocals or instruments, I go by instructions that are given to me and make sure to get feedback as soon as possible.

  15. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  16. A: I have a treated room with 2 stereo monitors (Yamaha HS8), a Korg PA800 midi keyboard accompanied with an accordion midi, and a Warm Audio WA-47 microphone. I use both FL Studio and Ableton for my workflows. Each have their strengths: FL is good for quick loops and hip hop/trap beats while I like to use Ableton for sound design and a more intuitive musical workflow.

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: My work breaks down into four categories: film, gaming, artist/rappers collaborations, and special events/commercials. With film, I have worked as a composer and music producer for themes, title songs, and sound tracks. With gaming, I have worked as a composer and music producer for original sound tracks and theme music. With artists/rappers, I have done collaborative music production, been a session vocalist/instrumentalist, and have mixed and mastered multiple projects. I work on processing, cutting, and editing vocals/instrumentals and songs for specials events, DJs, and commercials.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: All I need is my computer, monitors, and microphone. The midi keyboards and 100s of professional software/hardware that I use is just extra.

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I have done music most of my life. I started with performing accordion with Serbian artists in my teens and went into music production as a hobby. I went to school for chemistry and physics but for some reason, the music just pulled me back. I taught myself music production in order to find my own way to express. At that moment, I got

  23. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  24. A: What is the feeling you're looking for? What are the inspirations I can look at to give the appropriate style/vibe? When is the deadline? Do we have the time/resources to create what we want to make?

  25. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  26. A: Be prepared and have an idea for what you want to make or what you need from me.

  27. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
