Mastering is about pulling that extra 10% out of your song to make it the best it can be!
I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2011 where I majored in Songwriting and Production and Engineering. I've been lucky enough to make my living as a full time musician over the last decade. From the famous venues on the sunset strip in Hollywood, to cruise ships in Australia to 5 star resorts in Bora Bora, music has taken me to some amazing places. Now I've settled in Nashville, and I'm a full time mixing and mastering engineer for a high end sync company. I'm comfortable in many different genres including pop, country, rock, metal, rap and even cinematic orchestral music for film trailers and soundtracks. Working on my craft 9-5 has enabled me to level up my game exponentially, and I'd love to bring my knowledge and experience to help your track sound the absolute best it can!
Send me a message, I'd love to chat about your next project!

love this guy , very easy to work with
Spencer did a great guitar solo on a pop track we've been working on...nailed it first try. Always a pleasure working with Spencer.
Spencer nailed it first time as usual. Great at coming up with the perfect ideas to fit a song.
Spencer nails it every time. Awesome to work with and great communication. Positive energy makes all the difference!
Fantastic singer, beautiful voice..... very professional and everyhing went perfectly well. Highly recommend!
Spencer's ability to feel what a song needs is amazing. Perfect guitar and backup vocals once again.
Spencer has always nailed vocal parts and arrangements...I knew he was great on acoustic guitar, but he came through with a great rock solo on this last track. Highly recommend Spencer for his musicality and positive attitude. Always great results and fast turns.
Spencer is a pro every time we work together. He listens and delivers exactly what the song needs. He's extremely quick, responsive and positive on everything. Multi-talented in performance, arrangement and production.
Amazing guy, super fast turn around, very well done vocals, beautiful voice.
Spencer does it again. I've worked with him many times now and he has always nailed it. Responsive, quick and enthusiastic about every project.
Spencer is so in touch with the music; the style & the feeling of each piece. He can work from nearly complete tracks or the roughest sketch of something and take it beyond what you could have imagined. Highly recommended. Excellent collaborator!
Spencer and Julie come through once again. I've worked with Spencer for several years now and never been disappointed. Just hand off what you have and you'll get back something unexpected and amazing.
I’ve been working with Spencer for several years on multiple projects. Whether it’s vocals, guitar or mixing he always nails it. A true professional.
Just finished my first project with Spencer and he did a great job! He was easy to work with and very professional. He was very accommodating when I asked for a reference track of the music with his lead vocals and he sang the lead just like I asked. I highly recommend him and I will work with him again.
Spencer delivers once again. He's my first call for vocals and background vocal arrangements as well as amazing acoustic guitar work.
Spencer came through super fast and did a great job. Highly recommended as usual.
One after another Spencer comes through on these projects! Great ear and talent.
Spencer over delivered as usual.
I love letting Spencer "do his thing" with only the smallest amount of guidance. He always comes back with something original & modern. He's quick and an excellent communicator. Highly recommended.
Once again Spencer comes through on the first pass. I've learned to leave backup vocals completely off and let him do the arrangement as Spencer brings a modern and extremely tasteful perspective to a project.
Interview with Spencer Broschard
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Julie Broschard for female vocals
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: As a millennial who has only worked for myself, I have limited experience with analog gear aside from while I was in college. For sure there is a magical sound that tape and all of the capacitors and transformers made back in the day, but who are we kidding? For the sake of convenience and budget, all of our favorite legendary records would have been made on a laptop if they had access to the same technology we have today!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That a poorly recorded track can be "fixed in the mix." Make no mistake, there are some amazing things we can do these days to make poorly recorded tracks sound better, but getting the sound right at the source is about the best advice I can give.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started like most people producing my own songs. Then I began doing work for friends and other bands in the local scene. When you're starting out, it's so important to meet new people and just making yourself available for anything. I've played on cruise ships, at 5 star resorts on beautiful islands, and famous venues on the sunset strip in Hollywood. I've been doing music professionally since I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2011
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Incubus, Nothing But Thieves. Two of my favorite bands, and some of the most musically diverse musicians out there. They are always evolving and very album is completely different, which is so hard to do as a band. I would love to hear what we'd come up with
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on all genres, but mainly cinematic, rock, pop, country and folk music. I'd LOVE to do more metal \m/
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As a songwriter and a musician myself, I bring a sense of emotion and feel to a track. I once read someone say "Mixing and Mastering is 20% technical and 80% emotion" and I tend to agree with that.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a dedicated studio space with professional acoustic treatment and top of the line monitoring including my beloved Barefoot Footprint 02's and my Focal Clear MG pro headphones.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Oh boy too many to name but I'll try! As a mixing/mastering engineer, I really look up to people like Andy Wallace, Andy Sneap, Ken Andrews, Rich Costey, Brendan O'Brien, Alan Meyerson, Eric Valentine, and Sean Everett.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I do is Mastering, but I also produce and mix as well.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will only improve your song!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Taking songs that are almost there and really making them come alive
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My guitars and as much sunscreen as I could carry!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Get it right at the source! Don't expect a plugin to give you a great track after it's already been recorded poorly
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ears and my instincts for what a song needs
