With over 160k subscribers on YouTube and over 20 years of experience, I know how to make your songs come ALIVE!

I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2011 where I majored in Songwriting and Production and Engineering. I've been lucky enough to make my living as a full time musician the last few years. From the famous venues on the sunset strip in Hollywood, to cruise ships in Australia to 5 star resorts in Bora Bora, music has taken me to some amazing places. Now that I've settled in Nashville, I have the home studio I've always dreamed of to allow me to be able to collaborate with musicians all over the world! I run a popular YouTube channel with my wife called The Running Mates. We do acoustic covers of some of our favorite songs and have been lucky enough to gain over 160k subscribers and growing! My specialties are vocals, vocal harmonies and acoustic and electric guitar. All of my musical experience has provided me with ears that let me know as much when to play/sing as well as when to leave space. Over the years, my musical tastes have expanded to include all genres though I'd say I'm most comfortable with Pop, Rock, Folk, Country and Alternative. I've been lucky enough to connect with some great producers and through them my vocals have been featured in commercials and other sync libraries all over the world. Check down to the right in the "more samples" section for guitar samples.

Send me a message, I'd love to chat about your next project!

Spencer and Julie come through once again. I've worked with Spencer for several years now and never been disappointed. Just hand off what you have and you'll get back something unexpected and amazing.

I’ve been working with Spencer for several years on multiple projects. Whether it’s vocals, guitar or mixing he always nails it. A true professional.

  3. Review by George G.

Just finished my first project with Spencer and he did a great job! He was easy to work with and very professional. He was very accommodating when I asked for a reference track of the music with his lead vocals and he sang the lead just like I asked. I highly recommend him and I will work with him again.

I love letting Spencer "do his thing" with only the smallest amount of guidance. He always comes back with something original & modern. He's quick and an excellent communicator. Highly recommended.

  9. Review by Will M.

Once again Spencer comes through on the first pass. I've learned to leave backup vocals completely off and let him do the arrangement as Spencer brings a modern and extremely tasteful perspective to a project.

  10. Review by Will M.

Spencer always provides perfectly recorded tracks and is a professional through and through. He's quick, responsive and positive through the whole process.

Spencer took what I asked for and ran with it...over-delivering as usual. On top of an amazing performance, the quality of the recording itself is great and he was able to get to it right away. Wish they had a 6 star option!

Spencer is an amazing guitarist and vocalist. He was able to nail a complicated three part harmony of perfectly and delivered quickly. He’s enthusiastic and a great collaborator. Perfect to have on your team.

  19. Review by Peter L.

Spencer has an amazing voice. His voice is so rich and resonant, and he can go from chest voice to falsetto effortlessly. He is also a real pleasure to work with, and delivered just what he promised, and on-time. I plan to work with him on many more projects.

Interview with Spencer Broschard

  1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  2. A: Josh Kaler for mixing and Julie Broschard for female vocals

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: As a millennial who never worked in a high end studio, I have limited experience with analog gear aside from while I was in college. For sure there is a magical sound that tape and all of the capacitors and transformers made back in the day, but who are we kidding? If they had access to the same technology we have today, all of our favorite legendary records would have been made on a laptop!

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: I will only improve your song!

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: Taking songs that are almost there and really making them come alive

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: My guitars and as much sunscreen as I could carry!

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: Mostly freelance work, meeting new people and just making myself available for anything. I've played on cruise ships, at 5 star resorts on beautiful islands, and famous venues on the sunset strip in Hollywood. I've been doing music professionally since I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2011

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: My style is a blend of so many different influences so I'm having trouble pinning it down. But in terms of my production style, I would say I'm enthusiastic and collaborative

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: Incubus. They are some of the most musically diverse musicians out there and every album is completely different. I would love to hear what we'd come up with

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Get it right at the source! Don't expect a plugin to give you a great track after it's already been recorded poorly

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: I'm open to all genres, but mainly rock, pop, country and folk music

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: My ears and my instincts for what a song needs

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: As a songwriter first, I bring the knowledge of when to play or sing as well as the instinct to know when to let the song breathe. In a world full of plugins and sample packs, so many musicians get caught up throwing as many tracks on the song as possible without really thinking about what the song needs

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: It depends on the client, but typically I'll be sent a song that needs some life in it whether it be guitar or vocals. Most of my clients don't know exactly what they're looking for right off the bat, so I'll usually send updates as I hear new ideas until we settle on something we both like. That said, if someone has a guitar or vocal harmony part in their head, I'm more than willing to make it a reality!

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: I have a dedicated studio space with professional acoustic treatment and top of the line microphones. For preamps I use my UAD Apollo x4 which sounds amazing and I have a huge selection of amps and fx for electric guitar

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: Oh boy too many to name! But as a rock guy I would say bands that really know how to craft good songs, rather than just cool riffs and beats. As a singer, I love pure voices that aren't affected or "put on", and as a producer I look up to guys who also know how to write a good song like Eric Valentine

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: The most common work I do is coming up with or adding guitar parts/vocals to existing songs
