Interview with Allister Kellaway Audio Pro

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: I am happiest when I am making records, it's the best feeling ever, I get so excited over spending an afternoon recording guitar sounds or mixing drums. It's just such a rush watching this song come together, being part of every piece of it's production.

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: I'd say my strongest skill is Production, in the sense of creating sounds that compliment the song or arrangement. I am very skilled at re-creating a desired sound.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: I like to think I bring some curiosity and experimentation to a song, I always play around with different ways of manipulating a sound, ways that might make it stand out, make it interesting. Building a songs arrangement is a fun process, or at least I try my best to make it a fun explorative process.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: I have a modest home studio setup, though it is very effective, I can record synths, drum machines, guitars, bass and vocals.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: I'm a huge fan of Tortoise, John Mcentire - who engineers and produces for Tortoise - Is a huge inspiration, I love how every Tortoise song has it's own unique sound, John makes use of a lot of analog synthesisers and distortion to make these subtle but enormous soundscapes, it really brings the song to life.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: Editing, Mixing and Production
