I just finished mastering one of Andres's mixes and man - it was gorgeous. That's why i love to work with him. Balanced, spacious, dynamic and cohesive with that depth you can only get from such top-of-the line analog setup as him's. Five stars !

Andres mixed my debut single and, I need to say, he nailed it! He understood my vision from the beginning and complemented it with his expertise and creativity, I really didn't think the song could sound THAT good. He was quick, yet, careful and delivered a beautiful mix that surpassed every expectation.

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: I promise them that I always look forward to offer 100% satisfaction. Also, that I will be completely honest and straight forward. I want everyone to finish up with a huge smile in their face at the end of the day.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: Flora Martínez. Mauricio & Palo de Agua ft Felipe Pelaez.

  5. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  6. A: Could we have the track very heavy in the low end? Yes, but we need to get in balance with the rest. Can we get a competitive high quality audio? Of course, I will empower your music at the highest level of the music industry standards.

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: That it is all about the gear. I believe the most import component is the human resource behind the gear, which works for the music and not the other way around.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Be wise in the selection of who will work over your music. Remember that you need someone that understands your vision, a person that you can lay off confidently your music. I do not mix songs, I empower dreams and life projects. Never forget that the most important components are the ears and experience behind all those knobs.

  11. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  12. A: Several albums, EPs, and singles. Working over some artists in Sweden, France, USA, Uganda, and Colombia. Urban, World Music, Folk, Synthwave, Indie, Latin, Pop, Classical, and more.

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: My style is a perfect intersection between technology and music. Clear, balanced, dynamic, but honoring my client's vision.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: Definitively going back in time and record and mix for iconic artists such as Pink Floyd, pushing technology to its maximum expression. Very honest music artistically, but very demanding from the technical side.

  17. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  18. A: I have worked on several genres, from classical through rock, lots of World Music, but also Urban and Pop. I am a very versatile engineer. Every genre, song, and record feeds me at a personal and professional level.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: I will begin by verifying that everything is correct within the receipt material before even starting to mix or master. Then, I proceed with the mixing and/or mastering stages based over the observations and references sent. Finally, I will send all the versions requested by the client.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 1. ATC Loudspeakers SCM25A Pro my scope for the decisions. 2. Burl Audio B32 Vancouver to get the music glued together. 3. Chandler TG12345 Curve Bender to offer more life to the music 4. Bricasti M7 for the proper ambience 5. Burl Audio B2 Bomber ADC to digitalize the process at highest quality possible.

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: Technical acknowledgement in conjunction with trained ears and proper interpersonal communication.

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: I have been working in audio from a very early stage, and being active over 20 years. I started back in high school, one of the most renowned Colombian artists was my uncle and he took me under his hood. Since I was very young I was from venue to venue and at my uncle's studio. I worked at the most important theater of the moment in my country for over 6 years, when all the theaters were closed for maintenance or remodeling, and was able to work with some of the most renowned musicians from all around the globe. Currently I work from my studio mixing and mastering for several artista from all around the world. I have been able to work with artists from over 72 countries and keep counting. Also, I constantly record in different studios and locations all across Latin America.

  28. A: Objectivity to empower the artist's vision.

  29. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  30. A: Absolutely, I have been working for several years with Camilo Silva F, who is an incredible mastering engineer, designer, and gear manufacturer. We have constantly ongoing projects. You can check here his profile at https://soundbetter.com/profiles/11051-camilo-silva-f-mastering

  31. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  32. A: Both. Each technology has its pros and cons. I use them both for the sake of empowering every song. There are things I cannot obtain from the digital domain and I get them from the analog gear and viceversa.

  33. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  34. A: For a long time I don't feel that it is a job. I see myself as a life project empowerment tool. The perfect intersection between music and technology.

  35. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  36. A: At what level you want to take your music? How fast do you need it to be ready? Any specific sonic and musical references?

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I have a very interesting selection of gear, every piece has been meticulously selected, including several mods over my equipment and several pieces that have very limited built units worldwide. My monitoring system, the ATC Loudspeakers SCM25A Pro, are the backbone of my workflow. They are a magnifying glass on my chain, but also my Auratone 5C are a great reference to complement the main system and go over the correct decisions. Every mix goes through my Burl Audio B32 Vancouver Summing Mixer which offers me different tone options, then I can have several options over my mix buss from iconic tools such as the Chandler TG12345 Curve Bender, Api 2500, Focusrite Red 3, and the unique Camilo Silva F CSF4000E. Additionally I own an impressive outboard gear like Purple Audio MC77, elysia xpressor, xfilter, nvelope, and mpressor, Api 525s, dbx 160VUs and 160x, as very unique gear to empower every song like my Dolby A Model 360 with Camilo Silva F mod, Camilo Silva F CSF4000, CSF2A, and CSF1176. In between, I am obsessed with high quality analog reverbs and delays, that is why I own vintage gear like my EchoPlate III Plate Reverb, Maestro Echoplex EP4, Roland Space Echo RE-201, and Lexicon PCM70, as modern reverbs like the Bricasti M7 and TC Electronic Reverb 4000, among several others effects. Finally going back to digital I go through my Peak Limiter Pendulum Audio PL-2 and then to my Burl Audio B2 Bomber ADC, which enables the option to change the calibration through it's attenuator to obtain a extremely pristine converter or an incredible tone from the unique Burl transformers. And of course, a complete arsenal over the digital domain from the best manufacturers such as Plugin Alliance, McDSP, Waves, Soundtoys, Eventide, Audio Ease, Slate Digital, and more.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: I have been inspired by professionals, like Al Schmitt or Bob Clearmountain (just to name a few), that were the game changers in our industry. Also, some other incredible professionals that have become close friends within time such as Vance Powell, Tony Maserati, Michael Brauer, and Joel Hamilton.

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: Mainly I work over mixing. Although it is very common that my clients request that I also go over the Mastering based on the great results obtained over the mix process.

  43. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  44. A: Hear your song and follow your instincts. She will always tell you what she needs to be perfect. Be patient but be quick with the decisions. Always stay committed.
