Interview with Nicolás Aizinas

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: both! It depends the case, always.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: I promise to deliver fast and good results. You will not regret. I like to give good results to costumers and create new work friends.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: My MusicMan, an AKAI MPC, a Rupert Neve Preamp, my Macbook and speakers.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I started to play the bass ten years ago. I've played on a project called Tarta. in which I have played in front of more than 300 people in my city Buenos Aires. I have also done various jobs as a session musician in different studios in the city. Today I am dedicated to working as a session musician and bass teacher.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: I think that i'm a finger style bassist. But I can emule many sounds that you want!

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: I usually work at Rock or pop music.

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: Funky jazz songs!

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: I bring groove, but most importantly, human sound.

  17. Q: What's your typical work process?

  18. A: First of all i like to hear the song and recognize some parts that could be interesting add some spicy lines. Then i play the bass with the beat and try to write some arrangements. When I feel prepared, I record at Pro Tools. After I make two or three good takes, I mix my bassline with best plugins at the market like the Waves or Soundtoys bundle.

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: I have a 2015 Music Man Stingray 4H, i love this bass and it's my primary instrument. I have an Squier Jazz Bass Vintage modified Fretless bass too. I mix the MM signal with my Dedalo Gorila stomp pedal, that is a compressor with a nice sound. I record my bass lines with my Avid Fast Track duo, in my Macbook Air, with Pro Tools 2019. I mix it with my JLB 305 active speakers that brings me a good sound and helps me to find the right way.

  22. A: Tony Levin, Flea, Pedro Aznar, Sting, Krist Novosellic, Jaco Pastorius.

  23. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  24. A: They are commonly, rock/pop composers .
