howdy! my name is con davison, and i'm a producer, mixer and multi instrumentalist currently based in austin, tx.
As a producer, I love taking a small idea and growing it into a finished product. This is my bread and butter and where I've spent most of my time in the music industry. This of course includes me playing many instruments, songwriting and mixing as well. Consider me a one stop shop!

Endorse Con DavisonAs an artist and producer, working with Con was one of the single best decisions I have made to stoke personal growth in my music. He has a specific fluidity and playfulness. Coaxing out vulnerability and injecting enthusiasm into whatever he is working on, Con is incredibly generous to share from his wealth of experience. His deep understanding of songwriting and arranging show in all his work as an instrumentalist, producer, and mix engineer. Whether he is producing music I wrote or mixing tracks I engineered, I walk away feeling more confident in myself as an artist.
I have worked with Con over many years and can attest to his professionalism, creativity, and joy for making music. Con is an exceptional musician, highly proficient at guitars, keys, and drums (his drumming especially is energetic and distinct and will elevate your songs right away). He's an inspiring producer, seeking interesting sounds and surprising arrangements. But as a songwriter himself, he always prioritizes what's best for each song. Plus, he has a great ear and can make your mixes shine. I love every song we've made together and had fun making them too!
Working with Con was one of the best decisions I have made as a young musician! Con is not only a talented producer but also a friendly person able to bring the best out of you as a musician. His creativity makes a good song into a great song! Worthy of 6/5 stars!
Interview with Con Davison
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I put my entire self into every mix, production and performance. My strongest skill is my vibe, and I will always be honest and diligent about sharing that with any artist on any song.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I was a music school dropout, and spent 10 years in the music scene of Minneapolis, MN. Spent 6 years touring with my old band, Bad Bad Hats, and then moved to Austin, TX in 2022. I’ve been recording and producing bands professionally for the last 5 years, but I have been doing it for myself and the bands I was in since I was 15.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Familiar yet bent. Like a Haruki Murakami novel.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: It would be a dream to work with Julia Jacklin. She is my favorite songwriter as of late and each of her records inspire me to get better at what I do.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more!!! The best productions have the least going on. Everything has its space.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I do a lot of indie rock/pop, but I’ve worked on jazz, modern pop and folk as well.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I think I’m always trying to make things feel more of themselves. If is song is loud….make it louder! I’d a song is quiet…how quiet can you make it? Being bold is the only way to make music, so I try and have that state of mind with every record I work on.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I try to meet every song where it starts, whether a voice memo or a full fledged demo. The spark might be the melody, or a drum part or something else, but I always am looking for that thing that excites me. From there, it’s a wild ride of following your nose and having fun.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a small home studio that was designed by Jeff Hedback, with a fun collection of new and vintage instruments and processors. Everything you need to make a record.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Tchad Blake, Mitch Froom, Blake Mills, Joseph Lorge, David Bazan, Nigel Godrich, Julia Jacklin, Beck
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of the time, I’m playing the role of producer/engineer. This means I’m helping with songwriting, playing and recording with the artist, and usually I end up being the mixer on my productions. I pride myself on being a jack of all trades, master of some!
