Mykroh on SoundBetter

Hey, I'm Mike! I'm an independent producer/composer/songwriter with 8+ years of experience in modern production techniques and composition. Hit me up and let's get to work, this Grammy won't win itself!

In the last decade, I've worked on everything from hip-hop/rap EPs and EDM club bangers to orchestral short film scores and indie-pop tracks. It's safe to say that no genre or project will scare me away! I always practice a straightforward, no-nonsense approach to collaborating.

If it sounds good, it is good; and if it feels right, it is right. Here's what I can do for you:

-- Production/Vocal Production: for a song or recording that you want to fully develop, contact me and we'll talk about how we can to take it to the next level. ***This can include vocal production!***
-- Beats: Want a beat in the style of your favorite artist? I can make it happen and revise it to your liking.
-- Songwriting (Lyrics): I can help you develop your lyrics to make your melodies come alive.
-- Toplining: need a melody with lyrics that complements your track and gets stuck in your head? I can help you there too.
-- Mixing: for clients with a fully produced song, I can mix your stems to bring out dynamic quality and clarity to prepare it for a mastering engineer. (I can also provide mixing services for my own productions.)
--Film Composition: need a score for your short film or series? I'd love to help you!
--Game Audio: everything from sound effects to menu music.

Smash that contact button and let's get started, I can't wait to work with you!

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

I recently worked with Mykroh on "Surround Sound." By simply providing a few references, he very quickly understood my vision and produced it in a way that complimented both of our strengths. As always, an excellent collaborator that always knows what his clients are looking for.

Worked a ton with mykroh, easily one of the best people I've had the pleasure of making music with. He's super versatile and works extremely efficiently. Also this dude's drive is probably second to none, if you work with him I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Been working with Mykroh on projects for a about a year now, and I have enjoyed every moment of our collaborations. He gives really straight forward advice when you're lost on something, and can motivate you to keep working on your creations. His skills are very diverse; if you are a jazz artist, a songwriter, a classical artist, or even a rapper, he'll be able to help you with your work. Most importantly he makes the process enjoyable!

Real talk mykrohs accuracy to what the artiste in vision is profound. He works hard to make sure you have a product you are proud of. Even in genres he's not experienced in he takes the time to learn fundamentals of what makes the genre unique

Mykroh has a unique ability to bring anyone's vision for a song from concept to reality. He's a great collaborator that values artist's integrity as equally as he does sonic quality.

Interview with Mykroh

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I worked on a Disclosure remix for a competition (the audio is on my profile) in which I produced and co-wrote a whole song around their original one clip. I am proud of it even though they cut it from the running due to my co-writer and I changing the title.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Finding clients!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I'm brand new to the platform, so hopefully soon I can put someone here!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Analog comes with some beautiful imperfections and a level of warmth and richness that hasn't yet been completely replicated by most digital means.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I can absolutely promise that I'll do my best, and I will always be open and honest with my clients.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I like having finished my job and being proud of my work. There is no feeling like it.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Everyone's been pretty unique so far.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: When you make electronic music, people normally think you just hit a button and music magically happens, but that is not the case. It takes hard work, and multiple breakdowns.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What does this project mean to you? What's the message? What artists other than yourself could you hear performing this song?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Don't be precious, keep moving forward.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Why would I be taking my gear to a place with no electricity and so much sand that could get all over it?

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: When I'm not working on music, I am a computer scientist. I have been producing for around 8 years now.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is fluid; it takes the shape of whatever style best benefits the song.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Jess Glynne, I love her voice. It has such a unique quality.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Start with good samples, and don't be precious. You can spend all day trying to make a bad sample sound good, but it still won't sound as good as if you had started with a better sample.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Electronic / Pop, but I have plenty of experience with Hip Hop as well.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I'm a perfectionist, and rarely do I settle for less. This is also my biggest weakness.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I believe that every song is a statement in the language of music, and that my job is to make sure that it translates well to a listener. To every song I work on, I bring depth, cohesion, and groove.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Normally, I work straight from start to near-finish. I like to stay in a consistent headspace while working on a project.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I do 90% of my work in-the-box using Ableton Live 10 Suite.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I am inspired by a blend of electronic music artists and instrumentalists in various other genres. I have always looked up to the technical ability of Deadmau5, the creativity of Daft Punk, the musicianship of Charlie Parker, and the songwriting of Freddie Mercury.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Most often, I co-write and produce with my clients. I like to be involved in all parts of the process to make sure the project has a clear and consistent direction.
