Remote Mix Engineer

Hi, I'm Sox. I’m a music producer, mix and recording engineer, and songwriter based in South-East London. As a mixer, I’m patient, intentional, and detail-focused.I put the song first. Always. I love music and I’d love to work with you on yours.

My background is rooted in the DIY scene: I came up writing, recording, and touring with my band Tugboat Captain, and working behind the scenes as the booker at grassroots venue, The Cavendish Arms. That experience taught me how to think laterally, collaborate openly, and make ambitious things happen with limited resources. It's an approach that still informs how I work today, even in more high-end settings. I work out of my studio, Ctrl P, and regularly at Zigzag and Hackney Road Studios, with experience across a range of other top-tier and grassroots recording environments. Musically, I’m especially focused on guitar-based genres, from indie rock and alternative to folk, psych, and beyond. I have a deep love for expansive arrangements: strings, horns, layered harmonies, unexpected textures. I’m always chasing that moment when a song opens up and becomes something bigger than the sum of its parts. I aim to keep things fast, fluid, and feeling-led, with a focus on immediacy, inspiration, and flow. I love recording bands live, capturing the energy of musicians playing together in the same room, but I’m equally at home building songs piece by piece when that best serves the music. I believe in making music as an art form first, even when navigating the pressures of a commercial world.
