Interview with Ziggy Sixx

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Greta Van Fleet. They don't just raise the bar, they are the bar. They make me want to do better and strive for more.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't be afraid to try new things and ask for help if you need it.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Alternative-pop, alternative-rock. Although, I've written a lot of great songs that could be southern rock or country-pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My songwriting skills. Although, I'm a great vocalist and a creative producer.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have only written for myself at this point, but I think I bring a lot of creativity to the table. I take risks and try new things within a structure that works. I want the sound to be different and unique and catchy.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: If it's for myself, I usually start with an idea, then a title, then write the melody using my guitar and then add in lyrics. As I produce, I keep trying things until I find the exact sound I'm looking for to capture the mood and feel.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use Ableton and have everything I need to record. I work from home for now.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Greta Van Fleet is my favorite band of all time and I aspire to make music that is that good! I also admire Ed Sheeran, as he's a writer and a musician and a one-man show! Taylor Swift is an inspiration as she's such a prolific songwriter and performer. Classic artists/bands such as Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Scorpions, Eagles, etc inspire me because they all wrote, played, and performed. They did it all and they did it all really, really well.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm just starting to work with other artists. What I do for myself is songwriting, composing, singing, play guitar and bass, and producing. I'd like to work with other artists who may need assistance in these areas.
