I have been a first call studio player in New York City for well over 30 years. I have maintained an active Online Recording business for 20 years. I have played on tracks for Alicia Keyes, David Byrne, Eddie Murphy, BB King, Chaka Khan, hundreds of TV commercials,box office films. Also Main Gazane smooth,Michael Whalen-Future Shock...
I am an excellent oboe/English horn player as well as a sought after sax player. Additional instruments played are: piccolo,flute,alto flute,bass flute,clarinet,bass clarinet,contra bass clarinet,sopranino sax,soprano sax,alto sax ,tenor sax,baritone sax,wind synth and miscelaneous wood flutes etc

Bob Magnuson performed sax in my orchestra, The Robert Lawrence Orchestra, since 1998, and is the consummate professional and a gentleman. He also performed with The Four Tops, Johnny Mathis, Peter Allen, Buster Poindexter, Leslie Ugams, Phoebe Snow, and many others. He is sheer perfection. He can play anything. Interview with Bob Magnuson
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I did a project last year for famous Broadway actor/singer Brian Stokes Mitchell playing 10-14 instruments on each track. https://youtu.be/HFagE2e73Hc
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I have been working in this field for 20 years. I consider myself one of the first New York studio players to pursue Online Recording since experimenting with a dial up modem. I always have work at this point.Currently finishing a record with Peter Gabriels bassist Tony Levin for film composer Michael Whalen.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I will give you my highest level of excellence no matter what the project is

A: I have a never ending constant passion for recording

A: What is the purpose of the recording? Is it self funded or part of a production company and their client.

A: Trust my experience and professionalism
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started working in the Radio City Orchestra, then to Broadway, then to the Jingle and recording field in New York City
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: World music,jazz,ambient,smooth jazz, new age, film scores,TV commercials
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I try to bring my own personal touch playing the absolutely right part that lifts the song to another level
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Sax solos for Tv commercials and record projects of all kinds. Full woodwind sections and saxophone sections I also have an Online horn section with 2 top New York brass players
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: listening to a song with wireless headphones repeatedly to absorb what I am about to record. I don't just start recording
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Knowing how to integrate my playing into the style that I am asked to play on. Understanding how to play woodwinds & saxes with synthesizers ,a particular challenge to really blend correctly and sonically

Just completed a new Cd with these amazing musicians. Tony Levin was available because Peter Gabrielle is not touring now and Simon was wide open as well. Michael wrote some great music and hopes to release this project jan 2021
