Interview with Lauren Salvo

Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Know when enough perfectionism is enough, you don't want to over process or overthink your song to the point where you're unhappy with it. There will always be a next and better song than your last :)
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love Karra's work ethic and bad ass attitude
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: classical training meets EDM.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I've always admired Rezz's sound and think we would be a perfect pairing!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Everyday is something new. And i can take it with me pretty much wherever i want!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Know what you want, and be specific as fuck. I can deliver :)
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The quickest project I ever did ended up being one of my most successful, which was "Waiting" with Unknown Brain that has over 10 mil streams. I wrote the hook in about 20 minutes, and the final vocal was actually the reference i sang as a placeholder.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been a music professional for over 10 years. I went to college for vocal performance and opera studies, so i have a lot of knowledge in music theory and how to accurately come up with a topline that SMACKS. i've been focusing on EDM and Dance Pop for about 5 years.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a small vocal studio here near NYC. I work in logic pro x with an Apollo Twin interface (neve 1073 on the console) and typically sing into an AKG c414 microphone.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I have been mostly featuring and working in slap house and melodic house as of late, but i also love dark pop, trap, chill, and even sometimes Lo-fi :)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly write toplines and produce my vocals for client's instrumental tracks. Although i've also just written toplines for other singers to deliver, or deliver a song someone else has written.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to work with the artist to come up with something we are both proud of. The more information they can give me on the track the better the result will be!
