Endorse DujakInterview with Dujak
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: 'NOT JUST ANYBODY' just crossing 400k on Spotify. I'm one of the producers and artists, we had an amazing vocalist and it all worked out well in the end. Got loads of opporutinites off of it.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: a few ghost production tracks and my own personal projects.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog because you twist physical knobs and it's not sending ones and zeroes.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I WILL respond asap.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Getting to know new creative people.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I don't have a magical button for anything that I do.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Studio monitors, my Audio-Technica Mic, PC, Scarlett interface, and my M50X headphones, you don't need more.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Still on it! Still releasing my own stuff after 5+ years under Dujak.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: It's bounce-y.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Kanye West, I think he has such a creative mind.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: When producing -> I always layer my own natural clap sound or snap sample -> I record an 8bar loop through my Audio-Technica mic and it gives it a good loose-y dance-y feel when layered over on-time samples. The slight intentional imperfections in mixing and in production can be quite good sometimes to differentiate and to have a certain element of your own.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: anything electronic dance music related
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Being fast.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Mixing / Mastering -> Customers keep coming back cus they appreciate the raw POWER they get from my mixdowns. They sound always massive in clubs, but just as dynamic on streaming platforms (you can look up Dujak and judge the mixdowns yourself)
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: If it's mixing and mastering I lay down all the stems/multi-tracks and listen repetitively to capture the essence and feeling of the track. I always ask clients to link a few reference tracks and I add some of my own and judge over that. I start to tweak and twist some knobs here and there, add some effects and once I get a good feeling about the track I start to do the magic. If it's production - I simply ask my client for references and I listen to the given references on repeat and try to reverse - engineer how those tracks were made and what were the sound design choices in it.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I love love love LOVE my Focal studio monitors. They were my first studio purchase and I still rely to them heavily and I'm not planning on switching them yet. I trust them and they know my ears.
