Endorse Dave P.Interview with Dave P.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm recording vocals on a whole metal album from Sweden and mixing a live prog festival with 12 bands involved: the "2days Prog + 1"
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I have everything ITB here because today, in my opinion, the digital is way smarter and quicker. You can save and recall all the stuff you did and work on different projects simultaneously without losing that sound that you created. Plus with Universal Audio I've got all the best analog simulations with a mouse click, anytime, anywhere. This is the power of digital.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 1 Microphone 1 Audio interface 1 PC 1 Electric Guitar 1 digital guitar amp ...and some cables and picks... OK. is more thant just 5 pieces...but they would stay inside the guitar bag fro sure, isn't it?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Guitar: 22 years Sound Enginering: 12 years Singing: 10 years
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Be inside the music, even if isn't yours. Feel it when you're singing, playing or mixing it. This is the only way to make an astonishing job: being involved completely as an artist and aware as a professional.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ears. I've trained them for so long that I could say that my main instrument for making all that I do are them...plus all the knowledge about music obviously :)
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My 24 years of musical studies between piano, guitar, singing and sound engineering. You're in the right place.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: It depends on what we're talking about. As a singer I love the raspy vocals so names like Vedder, Cornell, Hagar, Bennington, Lande, Allen, Anselmo, Tyler, Grohl, Cobain and many others were the teachers of my main distortion singing tecnique. As a guitarist the classical and new Guitar Heros from Van Halen to John Petrucci, from Malmsteen to Abasi. And finally as a sound engineer... without any doubts: Kevin Shirley. His works inspire me every day.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love music, I love everything around it.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Rock, Metal & Progressive
