Interview with Profile User 35224

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: At the moment I am working on my next few string of singles that I am debating whether to bundle into an E.P. or not. I am also working on co-writing and collaborating as much as I can.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Yes, Luca Zadra is a phenomenal sound engineer, producer and beatmaker.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: If there is one promise I have to my clients its that I take this work very seriously. I chose music because I wanted to turn my passion into a career, and for some that can sound like work is the same as play. But the way I navigate that line is by remembering that my sound is my currency. If my name is attached to something, I want it to be the best representation of myself and so I would never deliver a product that I wouldn't put my name behind.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: I gravitate towards everything R&B and in my own music that is how I express myself. But many of my collaborators are EDM producers who need a topline, or singer-songwriters who need help with lyrics, and I love all of those projects equally. So, it varies.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: My strongest skill is lyric writing. I love hearing people's ideas, and putting them down in new and inventive ways. I also love taking colloquial language, something that you hear every day that you might not think can sound lyrical and putting it in a song: making poetry out of conversation.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I have a AT2020 and a quiet setting that allows for clean, high-quality vocal recordings.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: Ty Dolla $ign and Frank Ocean are two big influences. Ty Dolla $ign because he keeps everything sounding fresh. His songs are full of little hooks, and he just keeps cranking them out. Frank Ocean because he was my reason for going into songwriting. One of the first songs I wrote was a response to his song Swim Good, and since then, I've been hooked.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: The most common type of work I do for clients is usually helping them finish a song of their own. Usually, the artist has a vision and a direction they would like to go in, but maybe have hit a block that they need someone to help them get past.
