With over 6 years of experience as a recording engineer in the industry I have worked on multiple projects ranging from Mixing/Mastering, Music Production, Sound Design, Dubbing and Audio Restoration. Rohan has a very wide range of music knowledge, and can understand the artist's genre and requirement instantly. He is very versatile and punctual, which is very rare to find in a producer. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I think the most common misconception about what I do is that its 'easy'. People think it just involves turning knobs and pushing faders which at it's roots it does. But to do it masterfully is an art!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What kind of vibe are you going for? Do you have any specific references you might want me to check out? Where do you intend to release your music?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have regarding my services or if you want something really specific for your music.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would take my laptop, audient iD4, my Kali LP 6's, Squire Bullet Strat and my Audio-Technica M20x headphones!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started off as a DJ, then transitioned into Music Production and Mixing/Mastering and more recently Sound Design. I am now an Avid Certified Pro Tools User with a Bachelor's degree in Sound Engineering. I have been doing this for over 6 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I don't restrict myself to one genre or style of music. I like to experiment with all kinds of music.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Eminem, because his music inspires me more than words can describe and it's what got me into this field. He is such a master of his craft both rapping and production wise!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: More often than not, less is more!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Hip-Hop, EDM, Rock & Alternative Rock music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skills include Mixing & Mastering, Sound Design and Music Production. Also, knowing in what direction to take a particular song be it with regards to music production or mixing/mastering is another skill of mine.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I serve the song. I give the song what it demands so that it can be the best possible version of itself. My goal is to get your music to sound as good as possible without taking anything away from it.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends on the song I'm currently working on. Every record inspires me to do something different.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an Audient iD4 Audio Interface, Kali LP 6 Studio Monitors, Squire Bullet Stratocaster, Samson Graphite M32 MIDI Keyboard and Audio-Technica M20x Studio Monitoring headphones for reference.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mark Tremonti, Michael Jackson, Afrojack and John Mayer are some musicians that really inspired me and helped me craft my sound.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing & Mastering and Sound Design is what I most commonly work on for my clients.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have their own strengths and weaknesses. If you can make good music with what you have it doesn't really matter.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: 100% satisfaction with my work.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The fact that I get to do what I love for a living!
