Luchi on SoundBetter

23 year old London based, singer-songwriter, originally from Italy. I have a Soul/RnB/Pop background but more recently got into electronic music by producing some of my own tracks. Two years ago I started collaborating with EDM producers and released few tracks with them. I write both in English and Italian. Hit me up for some collaborations! xx

If I had to describe my writing I would definitely say big and emotional, pop to the core, R&B/soul music!
I wrote my first song when I was 9 years old and since then I have always been obsessed with creating the most hooky and emotional melodies. I have been inspired through the years by powerful voices such as Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Jorja Smith. I think their way of making soul music commercial made every person value and feel emotions on a deeper level! That's what I want to do with my music as well!

Collaborating has been an incredible discovery during the past few years, I love mixing my influences with other artists' and it always led me to create something special and new! That is the power of collaboration! As a collaborator I will make sure the other person's creation is highlighted by whatever my contribution could be and I will work endlessly on making the other person satisfied! I love to contribute on someone else's vision and just make people happy about what they're making!

I have been collaborating with all sorts of artists and genres: R&B/Funk/Pop/Folk/EDM and I have such a passion for making melodies and writing lyrics that suit the style!
I have a deep, low, airy voice. I have been singing soul/R&B/pop my whole life and the artists I mentioned before are my biggest influences!

Interview with Luchi

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: I love making a collaborator happy! There is nothing more rewarding than turning someone's vision into reality!

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: That I turn everything into Gospel! I love my backing vocals that is true, but I would only add a big choir part if needed! You can trust me on that! ahaha

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: I would describe my style as soul to the core, R&B, big confessional pop.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: I would love to work with Ariana Grande as I think her music is a mixture of all the styles of music I describe before, with a hint of novelty that makes her very unique!

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Don't be afraid of how it sounds at first! If you have an idea just put it out there and build on it! Weird sounds, bad quality mics, little production skills! Don't let any of these get in the way between you and your creativity! Remember, if the why is strong, you will find the how easily!

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: I have been working mostly on R&B, Pop, Soul, EDM, Funk music!

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: Melodies! I love them, have I said that already? I love writing melodies that make something move inside people! I think melodies mixed with my vocal tone is my secret recipe! ahah

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: During the past few year I have been collaborating, the people I worked with told me I brought to their songs originality in the lyric content, very hooky and powerful melodies and vocal delivery characterised by the tone of my voice.

  17. Q: What's your typical work process?

  18. A: I usually have a conversation with the collaborator about their creative intention and what they would like to have from my work. I then spend a first moment just listening to the track and trying to connect with it. After a first process of brainstorming, I start from writing melodies and lyrics. When I have the whole structure done I record it and send it off for a first feedback to the person I am collaborating with. I then receive the feedback as many times as it's necessary and I apply it if possible to the track. I care a lot about having conversations with the other people involved, in order to satisfy their vision.

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: I have a home studio set up made of a condenser mic (Neumann Kms 104), a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface, in ears, Audio- technica headphones, pop filter, mic stand, 88 key midi piano, Akai Professional MPK Mini MK 2, MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019).

  21. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  22. A: I am inspired by amazing pop songwriters such as Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Sia, Frank Ocean, Bruno Mars for how they managed to write incredible songs for big artists and build their own career as well. I find it incredibly inspiring for me as I cultivate both a passion for writing songs for others and for myself!

  23. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  24. A: I usually write toplines for music producers, this includes melodies, lyrics and most of the time, vocal performance as well.
