I worked abroad with Josue in a instrumental project, (with my violín) and I'm very satisfied with the final results. He is very professional and he was so worried with the small details that for sure I would contact him again.
100% satisfied with the work done! I highly recommend the work of Josue from Envolvente Estudio. I am a session guitarist and have done various recording, mixing, production and mastering projects with my band and with other musicians.
Interview with Josue do Justo Cardozo
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. I think digital gives you ease and speed at work, analog gives you depth, breadth and color in the final result. I believe the ideal is to be able to combine both digital and analog. That way you get the best of each world.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I think the most interesting thing about this job is being able to be creative in many ways and at all stages of the process.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you tune my voice? Yes, I can tune your voice, what I can't do is to improve a take that doesn't have a heart. A passionate voice take is worth double. Can we fix it later in the mix? Maybe yes but no! lol. Everything that can be improved in the recording stage will achieve a better final result. Can we fix it later in the mastering? Maybe yes but no! (Again) Same concept as the previous question.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing this for a long time. I began studying music, then started my own band. I recorded the first demo in 2008 and it was at that moment when I started to notice that recording and mixing was something I really enjoyed. So after that I decided to study a career in recording and mixing. I graduated and started working. It has been more than 12 years now.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on different styles of music, but mainly on rock, pop rock, soft rock.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I do is producing, recording and mixing. Deciding what equipment to use, microphones, preamps, listening to reference songs and talking to the musicians to understand what kind of sound they are looking for.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is that I will do my best to achieve the best possible result.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I describe my style as organic, musical and also detailed. The technical part has to enhance the song, but the most important thing will always be that the song does not lose its essence.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Bass drum and Bass.. always together please! :)
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: The ability to understand what the customer wants.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: The point of view of an experienced recording musician with the ability to understand what the song needs.
