I’m a rock and soul vocalist with years of experience recording and performing. My voice sits naturally in that gritty, melodic space, and I can deliver anything from raw, powerful lead vocals to smoother pop and soul-leaning tones,. I work from a fully professional studio with high-quality gear, giving you clean, mix-ready stems every time.

Interview with Gavin Conder
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Being in the house band for Name That Tune is something I’m really proud of. I had to switch between so many styles, often with no prep time, and deliver it live on TV. It pushed my boundaries in the best way and made me a stronger, more versatile singer.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My band, Wonder 45's new album.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes, Jess Greenfield
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog. there's more depth to the sound. More human.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: A passionate, high-quality vocal delivered with care and communication.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Helping bring someone’s vision to life
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: “Can you match this vibe?” Yes — sound-alikes are a big part of what I do.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That vocals are quick — emotion, layering and detail take time to get right.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What emotion are you aiming for? Any reference tracks? Any phrasing or stylistic preferences?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Share references and be honest about what you want — it helps me match the energy perfectly.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: SM7B, Apollo Twin, Neve 1073, API 525, and a good acoustic guitar.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been a working vocalist for over 20 years, from session work and jingles to touring, studio recording, TV work, and original projects.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Soulful, Passionate, Raw.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Anyone who values real musicianship and authenticity. I love collaborating with artists who push for feeling over perfection.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Spend more time on capturing a great performance than perfecting the mix — emotion is everything.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, Pop, Soul, Retro, Blues, Swing.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Delivering a powerful, emotive vocal with control and personality. Working with th client to make sure they are happy.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I care about feel and emotion above everything. If it moves people, I’ve done my job.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to speak with the client to see exactly what's needed, and spend time making sure I get the best takes for the project. I do all comping and tuning if necessary.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I record through a Shure SM7B with a Cloudlifter, Neve 1073 preamp, API 525 compressor and an Apollo Twin into Logic.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
