Endorse Carlos Sosa - Grooveline Horns- check_circleVerified
I've listened to Grooveline horns on many records I truly enjoy - who would've thought I would get the chance to actually have them play on some of my stuff??
It's been great working with Carlos, we had a quick & focused interaction, he brought in great ideas for the arrangement, and then delivered a tight, great sounding horn recording together with his section. Awesome!!

Carlos did a fantastic job on horns for my song: creative, tight and super professional horn lines, truly hit making. It was great to work with him as he was very responsive to my needs for the song and he knew what to put in there for a salsa song. He also got the job done efficiently. I look forward to working with him again!

I've known Carlos a long time. We've toured the world together with Jason Mraz and he's definitely one of those musicians who is always on point. An amazing live performer and equally as good in the studio! If Carlos works on your track you know it's gonna be amazing!

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed working with Carlos... and his playing just first rate and first class....You want someone to care about your song and your work and that is exactly how Carlos approached my song. I HIGHLY recommend... plus it was fun and inventive...Carlos delivered the prefect horns and took my song to a whole other dimension.
Without a doubt world class horns! From the playing, to the arranging and recording, you won't be disappointed ! I've done many gigs with Carlos and have spent countless of hours in the studio together and will definitely be working together asap!!!
Interview with Carlos Sosa - Grooveline Horns
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Pop and Hip-Hop. But I also do a lot of latin music which is another one of my passions! Latin horns have so much syncopation and interesting harmonies.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is melody and harmony which I use on a daily basis writing, arranging and recording horns. I love to find the extra melodies in songs and work around what is already there!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: The song is already there so I would like to think I bring the "sprinkles". Usually I give the chorus the lift or add a nice counter melody and in some cases the hook is the horns in the chorus. When speaking to the artist or producer, we usually get a clear picture of what flavor they want from me.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usually the client has a good idea of what they want by reference or a band name or time period. We throw around some ideas then Im off and to the races. I usually deliver a stereo horn mix. One with my FX and one without. I also deliver stems when asked.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in Pro Tools and Abelton Live. I have about 15 years experience in Pro Tolls and about 8 years in Live. Plugins typically used: ALL UAD, Soundtoys, Valhalla and of course Avid. Preamps: Neve 1073, API 512c Mics: Sennheiser 441, 451 AKG 414, Neumann 47, TLM 103, TLM 102
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have been a fan of pop/funk/r&b and latin horns since I was a kid. Heavily influenced by the 70's funk and R&B. James Brown, Parliament, Earth, Wind & Fire, Micheal Jackson, Rod Temperton and Quincy Jones. I am a huge fan of modern production techniques as well.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I get tracks from all over the world. Usually the client has a good idea of what they want by reference or a band name or time period. We throw around some ideas then Im off and to the races. I usually deliver a stereo horn mix. One with my FX and one without. I also deliver stems when asked.
