Interview with Serg Dimitrijevic
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Stay tuned for my bands releases this year! The bands name is Intergalactix and we're featuring the Grooveline Horns on a couple releases. You can follow us on IG, Facebook, YouTube and Spotify.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Im currently finishing up mixing an album that I recorded in Texas with my band Intergalactix.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes! If you're looking for bass, don't hesitate to hit up Kristian Attard. For all or any killer horns, Carlos Sosa is the man! Drums, I would recommend Brandon Combs and Mike Avaneim.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both work great and its just a matter of preference.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love what I do and I believe that when you love what you do, it shows and people can feel it. You still need to work hard and that definitely must be a focus.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask what they hear on their track/s and I execute it to the best of my ability and then go over any other ideas they might have before I start adding my stuff.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Im very approachable and super easy to communicate with so let's make some music!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as eclectic with a lean towards the funkier side of life!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Make sure to have phantom power turned on when using microphones that need it!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I've been fortunate to work on a wide variety of projects ranging from albums, singles, EP's, movie sound tracks and TV shows. I really love doing it all!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I feel that I bring a song to life and add value to the overall sound and production. I always make sure that the client gets what they want and are extremely happy with the end result. I won't rest till they are smiling!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I always speak with the client first to make sure I deliver all/any of their ideas and then add my flavour. I always like to give a little extra so the client has a few more options with their track/s.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is currently at home and I'm running Pro Tools and Abelton. I have a bunch of outboard gear consisting of Neve, API and Retro mic pre's, EQ's and compressors. A few mic options and a variety of analog and digital synths plus an arsenal of guitars, basses and a whole bunch of stuff!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by anyone who has a strong work ethic and isn't afraid of trying new ideas or concepts and definitely thinking outside the box.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm fortunate to have a diverse client roster so its always fun to play a few different styles and genres. Im always excited to record music in all shapes and forms!
