Interview with Elkin Oliveros

  1. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  2. A: I like to listen a lot from new clients, so I get the emotions and feelings they're trying to put on to the project so I can elevate that. I want to be the bridge between the art and the tech.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: For mixing, first of all, I prepare the session, label everything and let the client know if there's something missing or that needs to be fixed. I get a first pass to clients typically about a week later, and then if they have notes I recall and address as needed. Final mix could be ready with in a week or two.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: Well I have a home studio with a Presonus Studio1824c and a pair of JBL 305p MKii. I'm running Pro tools 2022.9 on a M1 MacBook Pro (2021). I mix everything on the box so I have the complete bundle from Waves, some essentials from Plugin Alliance and all of them from Slate Digital.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: I've always love Fito Paez, what he represents for Spanish Rock.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: I usually do a lot of podcast editing, cleaning and mixing. But I'm trying to do much more mixing a mastering for music projects.
