Yo! I'm a trained jazz musician who performed and toured around Australia for 5+ years before relocating to Berlin in 2016. In Berlin, I fell in love with the creative freedom and potential of music production. I'm immensely passionate about the sounds of modern electronic, hip-hop, and house music. I'm in the studio 24/7, so hit me up!
I’m a musician and producer currently living between Sydney and Berlin.
I studied jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and performed and toured around Australia during my early twenties.
In 2016 I moved to Berlin and fell in love with the creative freedom and potential of music production.
I love the process of mixing and all things audio, and I'm also a versatile producer/composer. Check my tracks to see what you think :)
I love rhythm, groove, and Black American beat music - house, hip hop, trap, jazz. If you need beats commissioned in any style (with references or without), hit me up :)

Interview with Frank Dasent
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I just finished an EP of original music. This was the hardest and most intense musical journey I've been through. I really pushed myself to make sure I owned every moment of the music, and came out the end of a challenging process with music that I'm incredibly proud of.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That music production is just 'playing around with machines.' I think that, actually, production involves deep musical empathy and understanding, and acting on that with discipline and creativity.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Who are your biggest inspirations? Describe your vision. What’s your timeline?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Just hit me up! I'm passionate about music in all its shapes, colours, and sizes. Let's talk about your vision and bring your music to another level!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop, my Juno-06, some speakers, a little drum machine, and my trombone :)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I grew up in a musical family in Sydney, Australia. I was trained classically and played jazz growing up, went to a music-focussed high school, and then studied jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium. I played, toured, and taught music in Australia before coming to Berlin in 2016, at the age of 24. In Berlin, I switched my focus and began learning music production, as I had musical dreams which I felt couldn’t be met by continuing my career as a ‘gun-for-hire’ musician.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Anyone with the motivation to make good music!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My original music, which is soulful, left-of-center house music.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital! All my favourite mixing engineers/producers are in the box.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll work on your music like it's my own.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the freedom and creativity of production, and I love the ‘flow state’ I get into while at the studio.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Raw, expressive, rhythmically strong.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Exercise every day!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: House, electronic, hip-hop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My musicality and work ethic.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring the musicality of a trained jazz musician and the skills of a modern producer.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I get to my studio early in the morning and produce all day!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mix through my UAD Apollo interface and DynAudio monitors and produce with my Juno-06, Yamaha DX7, Ableton Push 2, and numerous soft synths - Omnisphere, Massive, Serum.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Electronic producers with a focus on rhythm: Flying Lotus, Knxwledge, Theo Parrish.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing, beat-making, and keyboard/synth recording.
