I am a mixing engineer and music producer, my priority as an engineer is to create a sonic picture that best represents your work. Each project I work on receives the same level of dedication and professionalism. In addition to being an engineer I am first and foremost a musician, helping me not only understand your sound but also your music.
I come from a musical background and have been playing Bass in bands for over 10 years. I attended college in Albany NY where I studied audio engineering and vocal performance. Being both an instrumentalist and vocalist gives me a different perspective when mixing compared to other engineers. I highlight the lead vocal while giving the instruments and backing track the proper attention to create a cohesive sound for each mix. My intentions when mixing are not to force my own personal sound into the track, but rather to use my skills to bring out the artists sound.
My services include everything from mixing and mastering to vocal tuning and editing. I often work on songs and albums from start to finish, recording with the band and then working closely with artists to achieve a mix that suits their needs. However, I offer the same level of commitment to all of my clients, even if I am asked to simply tune a vocal part.
I have spent the past 5 years working in studios around the northeast. While in New York I worked with some of the most talented musicians on Broadway and also with exceptional singer song writers. In Massachusetts I was fortunate enough to engineer at Pilot Recording Studios, where I worked on an SSL 4000G+ along with a large collection of vintage microphones. These experiences have given me the skills to work effectively and efficiently on all projects.

Zach and I have worked together extensively and closely for 7 years and when it comes to songwriting, mixing and overall production with him, I find that the art I created, surpasses my vision. The level of trust, insight and dedication that Zach has, is easily recognizable and proves he’s someone you can count on. Many of my production and mixing choices are influenced from the tips and tricks he’s shown me over the years. In any situation, you can be sure that he’s right for the job! Thanks for all you’ve done for me Zach, so glad to have you as part of this musical journey.
I have worked with Zach for about 2 or 3 years now both at Dubway Studios and on a personal mixing project. Zach's mix for my song "Just For Me" was terrific and he was one of the kindest/easiest people to work with. He took all of my feedback and sat in with me for a live mixing session as well. He is a very talented mixer/engineer and I recommend him highly for any production/mixing project.
Zach has been a long time collaborator of mine and I could not recommend working with him enough. He’s an incredible producer with great ideas and his mix of my song “Why I Couldn’t Stay” is one of the best mixes in my discography. Looking forward to a lifetime of collaboration! Highly recommend you hire him for any producing or mixing you may need.
Interview with Zach Grappone Audio
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I tend to work more with Pop/Rock/Indie artists. This is the music I personally listen to and write so I find it most natural to work with artists of these genres as well.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work out of a small home studio capable of recording anything from overdubs to live tracking. Additionally I have a variety of plug-ins (Waves, SoundToys, UAD, Avid) that I utilize for mixing and production.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I admire the work of Jack Antonoff, Aaron Sterling, and Sylvia Massey. Each of them have skills and approaches to the music industry that I try to emulate in my work.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I frequently work with clients from start to finish on a project. They will come to me with a rough demo or a skeleton of a song and we work together to get the song to a finished product. I often write and perform guitar, keyboard and bass parts (hiring session musicians when needed). When we reach the mixing stage I work intimately with the clients to assure the project is staying true to their vision.
