Spent the last 2 decades mixing and/or producing artists like Passion Pit, Troye Sivan, Goo Goo Dolls, Magic Man, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, letdown., DREAMERS, Bad Wolves, [ALEXANDROS], Gryffin, Maddie Poppe, From Ashes To New, Chain Gang of 1974, Grey Daze and countless others.
I'm primarily offering my mixing services on SoundBetter, though if contacted during the production stages I can also consult or collaborate directly on additional production ideas prior to mixing. Anything that helps get the best sounding song over the finish line. I'm collaborative, I love having direct communication with the artist or producer, hearing their vision for the song (and any song references they may have in mind) and taking it from there.

Alex is a fantastic producer and mixer. He completely understood the story and vibe behind my song and delivered a better result than I could have ever imagined. His creative choices are strong and smart and I'm excited to work with him in the future.

Alex was very personable and an absolute pleasure to work with overall! I had quite a few things going on on my end that extended the process a bit but he was extremely patient and understanding. As for song quality, it sounds very professional in both the mix and master, and I am finally confident in releasing my song to the public. I had many different requests for how I wanted the song to sound and Alex was able to translate my, frankly gibberish, into exactly what I was looking for! 10/10

Amazing work as always. It's obvious he care about helping artist succeed and get the best out of their music. Can't wait to continue this project.

Working with Alex has been a terrific experience. He had patience through some files not being sent perfectly, and he made an effort to make sure that the track really was mixed exactly as I liked. I sent him about four pages of notes, which he meticulously brought into the mix. I am very happy with how my song turned out and hope to work with him again.

Second time working with Alex and I couldn’t be happier with the results. He gave me some production advice after our first session that I was able to incorporate into this new track, and it helped make the final mix even better. Can’t wait to work with him again on the next song!

Alex was truly INCREDIBLE to work with!!! He is so collaborative and enthusiastic, and brought so much care and great energy to the entire process of working together. He understood my demo and original production vision, and elevated it into a finished mix that had so much vibrance and life, while still feeling true to the original sound and direction. I'm so thankful to have gotten to work with him and strongly recommend him to anyone looking for their song to be brought to the fullest extent!

Alex's mixing and mastering work transformed my song from sounding like a home demo to a song I could easily hear in a playlist with some of my favorite bands. I'm a fan of his work and wanted to hear his perspective on the track, and he delivered something that truly feels like a collaboration. He went above and beyond just mixing the song, helping with everything from vocal tuning to drum sampling. If you're looking for inspiration and a fresh artistic perspective, work with Alex!
First off, Alex is incredibly easy to work with. From communication to delivery, it was such a wonderful experience working with him. This is the first time our band has outsourced mixing and we couldn't be happier with how well he took care of our song. The turnaround was incredibly quick and we literally only had 1 mix revision (that was 100% preference, we could have sent the first mix to distribution with no worries at all). Do yourself a favor and work with him. Its a no brainer.
Interview with Alex Aldi
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'd have to say the latest Goo Goo Dolls song "Beautiful Lie". I co-wrote, produced, and mixed it. I initially demoed it in 2020, and shared it with the band in 2022, and finally recorded it with them in 2023.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Writing for a few major label artists, and mixing maybe 3-4 songs a week.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I am new to Sound Better, but looking forward to meeting other producers on here!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love mixing a new song every day, it never gets boring when you get to change it up every day.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Them: "Can you master this for me?" Me: "Yes"
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Is the song ready for mix, or does it still need editing, comping, tuning etc?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Been working in music for 20 years- started as a studio intern, which lead to house engineer, then mixing and production shortly thereafter. After 5-6 years I went freelance and have been doing so ever since.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Lately, I'd say Duran Duran. A little dated even for my generation, but their songs and productions were very well crafted.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Taking something that sounds "ok", and making it sound like it's on the radio.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once I have the client's files and the session is set up, I read their notes, listen to their references, and get to work. I always have those notes/references in the back of my mind while mixing. Once I have something I'm happy with, I send a mix to the client to get their comments on it. Then I incorporate their notes into subsequent mixes until all parties are happy.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital- analog requires maintenance and not very portable!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To keep pushing until everyone involved is super happy with the end result. I am willing to revisit something, no matter how small, to achieve that.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That you can throw all your audio into a mix template and get great results.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Loud and Punchy, with a lot of emotion.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen at low volumes, even when producing. It's easier to gauge how the production is taking shape, if the tempo is right, etc. It also really shines a light on vocal tuning issues.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Alt, Indie, Pop, Rock, EDM, Synth Pop etc
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Experience in how to achieve the artist's vision. It sounds cheesy, but being able to understand general artist lingo and translate/execute that is something that only comes with experience.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Nile Rodgers, Diplo, Daft Punk
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Reach out and ask questions!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Genelecs, Apollo, a midi controller, Trinnov
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mix in the box and monitor with Genelec 8050's and NS-10's through a Trinnov Nova, and my setup is surrounded by an ASC attack wall.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The bulk of my work is mixing, though often times I'm asked to add some final production to a song before mixing it.
