What can I say other than Naim is one of the most talented and professional artists I have worked with in my 20+ years of producing. His vocals were just incredible, his verses were deep and meaningful, and he absolutely crushed the hook with an unbelievable ear worm. I could not recommend him enough, he will absolutely deliver exactly what you were hoping for.

Interview with Naim
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I would say, The first EP I put out as an artist. I wrote all the songs on there, mixed them and mastered them.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently working on finishing two projects I have been working with my team.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I do not know anyone on SoundBetter in this present moment.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: A combination of both. There are soooo many effective digital processes that streamline ideas and sound great.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: - I will do everything I can to provide you with exactly what you want for your project. - Efficient communication. - I will complete your requests within the provided timeframe.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I get to create for a living. I don't think there's anything cooler than that. I set my own hours and I work for myself.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The two questions I get asked the most frequently are "How long does it take?" and "How much does it cost?" When you boil it down, these are the two things people want to know above all else. My usual turnaround time is five (5) business days and my standard rate is $200/song. But I would ask that if you want something different than that, please just ask me. I always want to find an opportunity to work with someone!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That because I do what I love for a living, it's not really work. My profession is really fun and I am happy to wakeup every day and make music, but it would be a lie to say it's a walk in the park. The creation aspect of my job is amazing but it is also a business which needs to be ran so more often than not I find myself working 3 times as hard as I have to wear multiple hats.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: My favourite question to ask people I work with is "From all the music that is out there, what album do you currently wish could have been created by you?" This typically gives me a feel for where their headspace is at creatively.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Trust your gut. If someone doesn't seem to be the right fit or takes too long to get back to you, do not work with them. There are loads of high quality individuals on soundbetter who work with professionalism and are here to genuinely provide you with the best that they have to offer, as opposed to making a quick buck off of you.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A solar powered generator, a laptop with my DAW and all my plugins installed, headphones, a midi keyboard and a guitar.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been writing and recording music since the age of 13 but had initially followed a career in the health/medical field until I realized it was not for me. My professional music career began once I signed with Vlvt Tree/Warner Chappell right after graduating university.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I started out rapping so but fell in love with beautiful catchy melodies. The easiest way to describe it would be edgy pop music with a hiphop flair to it.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: There are way too many to list. It would be fun to work with James Blake or even Tame Impala as they create worlds of their own.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is definitely more!! Don't hyperfocus on little parts of a song during its creation. Finish the main skeleton of the song and tweak/add/subtract later.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I pride myself on being very versatile stylistically. My current favourite genre to work on is Pop with a HipHop edge to it. Take a listen to the music I've added in my Soundcloud playlist I've included on this page. It'll give you an overall feel for what I love to create.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I leave my ego outside the studio doors because In my experience, openness to ideas/suggestions and communication leads to a better the final product.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I believe I am great at guiding a song to completion. As a top liner & songwriter I pride myself on coming up with catchy melodies supported with meaningful lyrics.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It really varies depending on the day. At times an idea my come to me out of thin air and I can record it almost instantly. However, the majority of the times, I begin writing songs by coming up with the vocal melodies. I will typically record a couple passes of vocal melodies and arrange the best ones, like a puzzle, in song format. From there, I may have said certain words or phrases within those recordings that could inspire an entire song and I simply have to fill in the blanks with the melodies I recorded. The beauty of the entire thing is there is no one way of creating a song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup is comprised of a sonically treated room within which I use a Neumann TLM103, Yorkville 8 speakers, a Universal Audio Apollo Twin MKII and some SRH440s. I use Logic X Pro as my DAW and own hundreds of plugins to mix my records.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: As an artist/songwriter I've been inspired by a great deal of individuals such as Lil Wayne, Eminem, Andre 3000, Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, Charles Aznavour, and the list goes on.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: What I do the most is provide high-quality lyrics and vocals. I've worked hard to hone my skills as an artist/songwriter/vocalist, which as a byproduct allows me to provide the most seamless and rewarding experience possible.
