Cameron Gallant

Lyricist and Topliner

Cameron Gallant on SoundBetter

I love writing emotional songs and persistent earworms! Keys to Great Hooks: Repetition, Mood-Setting Keywords, Scene Building, Occasional Unpredictability

Songs stay around because they connect and resonate with people. Creative relatable lyrics and consumable melodies are the backbone of every song. I am YOUR GUY for lyrics and toplines! I've been writing for 12 years and have written thousands of toplines and hundreds of songs. Over the years, I've developed an intimate understanding of what makes a song catchy.

LYRICS: I can take ideas and parts you already have and complete polished, finished lyrics, or we can start from scratch! Let's elevate your artist's songs to the next level!

TOPLINING: Have lyrics already but struggling to create a persistent, catchy melody? Let's turn your ideas into a finished tune that can be recorded and released. Catchy melodies are delicate balances of contrast and predictability. (I currently do not session sing, mix or master)

I look forward to hearing from you! I love working with other creators and look forward to helping you release your best content to your community and the world.

Pop Ballad:

Boy, you look hot but I hesitate
Know I’m flawed, but if you’re a façade, I know I’ll break
One foot on the gas, one foot on the brake
My past is my baggage, it was stopped at the gate

No more, afraid of your approach
You seem nice, but do you want something more...

Interview with Cameron Gallant

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: Know your reasoning for wanting to hire someone. Do you have a band looking to increase your fan base through an anthem? Are you creating a song for a loved one? Are you looking to learn more about the music industry by collaborating with other creators? What are you hoping to gain by working with someone? Be clear about your objectives.

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: Beyond tactical survival gear? My computer, audio interface, microphone, keyboard, and a power source.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I've been writing for 12+ years although have only recently begun releasing music and collaborating with creators around the US. Happy to send ya lyric and topline samples if you'd like to see a particular genre / type of lyrical content.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: I don't have a set style. I love songs that take listeners by surprise either through lines in the song or through their melodies. I also adore interesting harmony runs. Historically my songs have been based on the style of an artist I choose to emulate for the song. For instance, I may be thinking of Ed Sheeran's "Photograph" as I write a particular relationship song. Now that I have have been writing for a while, I sometimes choose to emulate a subset of my previous works.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: My songs are usually pop although I write country, alternative, indie-rock and more.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: Lyrics and catchy toplines. I sometimes produce and mix although am still learning a lot and am not yet at a level where I am comfortable taking on clients in these areas.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I love songs that make people laugh, cry or just feel good! Songs are great when they create emotions. I bring this to my songs using thoughtful lyrics and catchy, high-contrast hooks.

  15. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  16. A: I primarily use StudioOne 5 Professional and AutoTune Vocal Suite for VOX recording and processing. I have a home studio with all the usual studio stuff (keyboards, audio interface, guitars, microphones and software)

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: Max Martian, Shellback and Benny Blanco are amazing! I also love Joyner Lucas, Christina Grimmie, and KHS. And I appreciate you; If you are a creator, you inspire me!
