Latin music, pop, soul, jazz, EDM and R&B; fully bilingual and multi-genre vocalist. Originally from Buenos Aires, I have 15+ years of experience in the studio writing lyrics, top line & recording vocals. Excellent with harmonies and BGV. Lead singer of the Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra. Musical Theater: Rent, Hairspray & Disney. Prompt turnaround.

Hi there!
My main asset is my versatility, I can go from airy and mid-low dark/sexy jazzy timbres to nasal/hi-fi pop. I absolutely love recording and every opportunity to be creative writing music and/or lyrics. I have broad experience singing different genres; like Latin music, pop, indie, EM, soul, funk, jazz, R&B, Brazilian music, salsa (I have 2 studio albums with the Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra) disco, funk, folkloric music, etc.

I studied Singing Performance at Escuela de Música Contemporánea (Berklee International Network) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have worked on television, musical theater, toured internationally and performed countless times at prestigious venues such as: Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Bowl, Summerstage, Blue Note Jazz festival, Smalls, BBKings, etc. I've recorded/collaborated with several artists such as Woodkid, Joan Baez, Kevin Johansen, Paquito D'Rivera, Jorge Glem, etc. Sync placements on FX and MTV.

Happy to hear about your project and see if I'm a good fit. If you decide to work with me, I’ll send you an mp3 rough mix for your approval, do one round of revisions for free if needed, then once you approve and release funds, I will send all wav files dry/raw and edited.

*Pricing can vary depending on the project, but average price is $150 per track depending on complexity

Through different projects I've produced, Solange’s extraordinary abilities to compose music, write lyrics, record, and perform never cease to amaze me. Her adaptability as a vocalist is beyond impressive. She blends her singing technique perfectly with very diverse traditional musicians from Caribbean Colombia, suggesting a chameleon quality and a type of expertise that is rare to find. I hired Solange to record vocals for a soccer team anthem, and her consummate professionalism, pursuit of the best possible performance, and flexibility makes her an absolute NO BRAINER! She is literally a one-take wonder, and in just under two hours, did multiple variations of the song, including complex layered harmonies, all with perfect delivery. I can't wait to have her amazing vocals on future projects -- we should all be so lucky

I've written many songs with Solange, both in Spanish and in English and she has been so easy to work with and so inspirational. Her melodies are beautiful, her lyrics, in both languages, are poetic and catchy. And I love how she records her vocals too. She has a great setup (in her home studio) and a great sense of background vocals so everything she sent me was final, sounded excellent and professional. As I producer that's a big plus.
I would recommend working with her in every capacity!

I have worked as a music composer and producer creating music for the advertising, film, and TV industry in Colombia and LatAm. I have had the opportunity to work and collaborate with Solange on several occasions.
The experience of working with her has always been wonderful, as she is a very professional and meticulous person with her craft. Her contribution as a musician goes far beyond just being a performer; She can print her label and contribute ideas that will enrich any project musically.
The results have always been outstanding.

I have worked as a music producer in NYC for over 30 years, creating music for advertising, film and TV. I've worked with Sol extensively for many years. She checks off all the qualities you need and expect from the NYC pool of singers - in my opinion the best in the world. Her musicality is impeccable, with an amazing attitude. But there's more. Sol gives you what you want but takes it to a place that is so much more than you expect or envision. Her first take is what you hope for, but her last is magic And she does it in English AND in Spanish. She is a truly a special artist.

I am the bandleader of the Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra, based in Brooklyn NY. For 10 years, Solange Prat has been our lead singer and an invaluable part of the WSO's innovative sound. Her fully bi-lingual (Spanish/English) ability has taken the WSO to a global audience with two acclaimed albums and many music videos. Her precise ear for harmonies and skill in improvisation, singing the 'soneos' unique to salsa, have raised the band to new heights. She is always positive, friendly, easy to work with and a true professional. Just check out any of our music videos to see & hear!

Interview with Solange Prat

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I joined my first band when I was 15 and have been in the music world since then. I started performing and recording really young, then studied music and got into songwriting. I've worked on tv and musical theater (Rent & Hairspray), in 2010 I moved to New York City and became the lead vocalist of the Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra. After two full albums with them, I started working full time on my solo career and released my first album, LOOP, on 2021. I've always recorded jingles, covers and background vocals for different projects. The studio is my "happy place" I've also toured internationally and performed countless times at prestigious venues such as: Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Bowl, Summerstage, Blue Note Jazz festival, Smalls, BBKings, etc.

  3. Q: How would you describe your style?

  4. A: I think I'm a weird mix of jazz, soul and cumbia. My tone has many colors and I'm a sucker for groove.

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: I'd love to work with someone like Kimbra. I think she has so much to offer as a songwriter and producer, it would be an absolute pleasure to learn and hopefully collaborate on a song.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: I guess "making space". That has been one of the biggest learnings for me, learning to have less elements but with good quality sounds, having a minimalistic approach.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I usually work on Latin pop, soul, R&B, and indie music; but always open to explore and expand.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: My strongest skill is definitely how versatile my voice is. I can sing a variety of genres, always doing my best to understand what the song needs. I can go from a smooth, airy, sexy vibe to a belty pop sound, depending on the project.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I feel like I have a very unique tone and that I'm a very sensitive musician. I also love creating, so whenever there's room for my input, I love coming up with vocal parts and layers of background vocals.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: Well, every project is different but for example, if I'm writing a melody and lyrics for someone, I'll listen to the track they send me and record a number of ideas on my phone, just to be quick and have those fresh right there. Then I'll write the words (English or Spanish), find the best idea and record it on my computer. I usually find some harmonies, which I love creating, to complete the song. As soon as I'm done I send this to the client as an mp3 for approval and if he/she likes it, I'll do any corrections needed, edit the vocal tracks and send the individual tracks on WAV format. Sometimes there is a second round of minor corrections, which I'm happy to do. It's really important to know that the client feels satisfied with the work.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: I have small room at home that I slowly but surely turned into a home studio. I have a Mac Book Pro, Ableton Live Pro, a brand new AKG C414 microphone, a ARROW Universal Audio interfase and a bunch of instruments that I write with: guitar (acoustic and electric) bass, cuatro, vihuela, tiple, jarana, some minor percussion and some insulation foam I've put on the walls to get an overall better sound when recording.

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: So many...Kimbra, St Vincent, Sia, Lianne La Havas, Esperanza Spalding, ILE, Juana Molina, Natalia Lafourcade, Mon Laferte, Anderson Paak, D'Angelo, Jorge Drexler, kevin Johansen, Fito Paez.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: I typically create and record top line and background vocals in English or Spanish, and I also get a lot of work writing melodies and lyrics to a track they send me. I love that kind of work because of the creative input.
