Session/ Recording drummer based in London with a studio in Battersea. Extensive experience in self-recording and performing everything from RnB to Hard rock.
When you hire me we will have a conversation about the track and what you want it to feel like. You can send me some reference songs so I can find just right sound for your song. I work very fast and will always make sure you are happy with the recording before I am done.

I also have an spds-sx and tons of samples and loops which I feel can incorporate into your music if you want a hybrid sound.

Interview with Oliver Overgaard

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: It is always amazing when the client has good references and a clear idea of what they want but also being open to creative input from the session musician.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I grew up in Denmark and started playing drums when I was about 11, by 21 I moved to London to pursue a career in music. I have now lived here for 5 years and live performing recording and teaching drums. I have recorded at a bunch of the biggest studios in London, toured Europe, and played at some of the biggest festivals in the UK. Now I spent most of my time recording and playing gigs around London.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: As a session/studio drummer, I work on a lot of completely different genres all the time. I work with a lot of RnB/Pop artists and some Rock/Country artists. For my own music, I mainly create groove psychedelic instrumentals in the same way as Khruangbin.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I believe I am very good at sitting in the pocket of a song and just adding the perfect amount of spice to keep the rhythm section alive.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I record drums for songs or albums. I either work from a guide drum track or by reference tracks supplied by the client. I listen to the references and decide which snare and cymbals would suit the sound the best and which kind of microphone setup suits the production best. Then I create three different variations and send the stems to the client and if there are any amendments they would like I re-record a new version specific to their feedback.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am really inspired by Donald "DJ" Johnson the drummer of Khruangbin both in playing and sound. I think his groove is immaculate and his choice of snares and cymbals and the way he muffles them are magical. I am also a big fan of Nate Smith and his super groovy tight sound and his work as a session drummer on the album Rising Son by Takuya Kuroda.
