My goal is always to deliver a mix to the artist that makes them fall in love with their song all over again, the way we all did.

So easy to work with and the result is exactly as good as we could imagine when reading all of his CV.
Everything is right!
Thanks. - check_circleVerified
Wow!!! Where do I start? Simply put, Ken Lewis is the f*ckin man!!! When I saw his rate per song, I was a bit reluctant. But then, I saw his resume. I'm very particular with my sound, so when I studied Ken's credits and saw all the contributions that he's done on one of my favorite artist's record's I knew to give him a shot. Ken was able to take a demo sound, and raise it to a radio ready hit! Give him your best song, you wont regret it! Truly an honor.

I don't usually write reviews but I have to do it for Ken. Ken is a true professional, I mean go check his credits, and probably the nicest guy I've ever met. The communication was easy and smooth. The mixes sound amazing, one didn't need revision at all, one only needs tiny tweak. People probably have said this already but you should hire Ken for all your mixes for the rest of your life.
I would never hire anyone other than Ken for my ATMOS mixes...he's made so many records stand out with his mixes over the decades. It's a no brainer for me to trust him in all things ATMOS as well! Looking forward to more projects together, Ken!! Thanks for your great work!
Ken is a seriously seasoned pro in the music industry! It's a very short list of people with as much dedication to their sound, craft, and community. Send him your best work and you'll be well pleased with the results.
If you’re looking for a mix with tons of vibe and character, then look no further. Ken just knows how to make hits. He is the guy behind all your favorite songs, whether you know it or not. Your record will stand out amongst all others with a Ken Lewis mix. Highly recommend!
Ken's discography speaks for itself. He's definitely contributed to or mixed some of YOUR favorite records, guaranteed. I've had the pleasure and honor of working along side him in the studio before, and can personally vouch for the level of detail and passion he puts into each project that leaves his studio. Having him bless and sculpt the audio for your next song is one of the best investments you can make in your craft. Hands down.
The GOAT is on Soundbetter! With the ATMOS rig ready to go! Killin it! Ken is a wonderful Producer, Mixer, and educator. I was blessed with the opportunity to work with him for over 10 years in various roles from intern and up. I have seen him pull off miracles and amazing work for countless clients of all stripes, from just starting out to the top of the game. He is the real deal, highly recommended!
Ken is one of (if not THE) best to ever do it. His credit list is a literal mountain of hit records, he's a pillar of the audio community, and an all-around good guy. If you get the chance to have Ken mix your record, not only will you have a wonderful experience, you will also get to hear your music in it's best representation... confident that a true professional has done everything in their power to make you sound the best you can sound.
I'm actually jealous you get to hire him. ;)
It’s a no brainer to hire Ken in general. But now he is at the top of the game doing ATMOS!! Amazing! Ken’s mixes and work in general come from a deep rooted love for music. He puts his all into his work and never disappoints. And I mean never!
I've worked with Ken since the mid-2000s and his skills are beyond elite. Not only will he work with your original concept, his expertise lends itself to creating ideas and concepts to ultimately help you make the best record
Everything I’ve learned in music has come from this man right here. I’m super grateful to be able to call Ken my mentor and now production partner. He’s one of the most talented people I’ve ever met that also happens to have a pair of golden ears. I couldn’t recommend him enough!
Amazing engineer with all the right skills & mindset. Have learned amazing techniques and workflow recommendations from his "Live Youtube Program"
D.Ken aka "The Jedi Master" himself is 1000% your first choice. Responsible for a ton of your favorite records. Ken is a walking studio Swiss army knife that has reached well over 10,000 hours in recording, mixing, writing, and producing respectively. That's not mentioning guitar!! If you want to operate at the very very top of the mountain, you'll need to work with this guy!
Literally one of the biggest goats that has ever done it. If you’re looking to take a song into the next level which is atmos this is the guy that will make it happen. There is only a handful of people that can make a record drastically better and Ken is one of them.
Ken is a legend that survives the industry for so long and worked with literally anyone you can ever think of! It's nearly impossible to find someone that write & produce, engineer, mix and master at the level he is operating at. It's not easy at all! It was truly inspiring just to talk to him not to mention working with him. You can't go wrong working the "Jedi Master"!
Interview with Ken Lewis - ATMOS MIX
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Kanye West's "MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY" I worked on 5 songs. My favorite role was producing and creating the horn section for "All Of the Lights." I sang on it too.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I can't actually say, but recently released works include Vybz Kartel, Alicia Keys, and BTS.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Brent Kolatalo is a beast. He's been my production partner for over a decade and he's worked with a ton of incredible artists.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: BOTH!! OK, ATMOS is all digital as 12 speakers is too much for an analog console to route. But I've mixed on SSL and Neve my whole career, and I have mixed multiple Grammy Award winners completely In The Box. It's about the song, not the format.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to deliver you a final mix that you love. I take pride in my work and in delivering for my clients. I revise until you love it, and I have no ego at all about the direction of the song. Give me your vision and let me help you make it the biggest, clearest representation of you.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I mean, it's music. Every single day. Even the worst day is still a music day. It's like having your favorite dessert for every meal, and never getting tired of it.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you make it sound like...........? Look at my resume, if I can't, then who? :-)
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: It's the $10,000 hammer story. People don't seek me out because I have the gear, or because I know how to make the gear work. Anybody can mix music and learn the gear. People hire me because of how I interpret and assemble music into a final mix or production.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have a clear vision for this song or shall I go with my gut, then we adjust? If you could put this song on any playlist of your choice, what's the playlist? What song comes before it? What song follows it? If you could tour opening for any artist, whose fan base do you think would connect with you the most?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 1. Sony c800g Microphone 2. Apple AirPods Max Headphones 3. My best acoustic guitar 4. Is a laptop considered a piece of gear or a vessel? (solar charged of course) 5. SSL AWS 900+ Mixing Console
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: 30 years for major labels and everyone else. Broken glass, I've walked it. Rivers of shit, I've swam em. Started from the bottom (school, intern), now I'm here. I can draw upon more experience, in more facets of this industry, than most people alive.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Reach out, I'm surprisingly normal. I even do my own grocery shopping.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Nerdy
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: How much time ya got? Diplo
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Not every producer is meant to work with every artist. Find the artist(s) you truly connect with and build together.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Whatcha got?
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Chameleon. Ninja. JEDI. Wait, that's 3.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: TRULY UNIQUE EXPERIENCE. Other people have better resumes and stronger individual talents, but nobody else on Planet Earth has a resume as high level diverse, across as many roles and genres, with as many marquee artists as I have. My super power is that I incorporate all of my talents into my work.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Fast then slow. I subscribe to the Michael Brauer "Mixing Is a Performance" philosophy, so I try to get everything into the mix quickly, then I just keep asking the song to tell me where to take it and I go.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: ATMOS 7.1.4 (full speakers & headphones) Pro Tools Ultimate Every plugin known to mankind
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a sponge, so that changes constantly. As a mixer, I get to see the full sessions of so many brilliant producers and artists that I have mixed for. All of that educates me as a producer and a creative with everything that I do. I'm lucky to have inspirations from all over the world to bring into my own work.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Smile creator. I make records better, whether its as a producer, mixer, writer, arranger, musician or vocalist. If I take it on, expect smiles. I know what a Finish Line sounds like and how to get there.
