Interview with KIIMMY

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Because I've just entered into the world of a recording artist, I'm especially proud to already have my first release coming up in under a year; it's a song that my team had to find a whole new producer for which completely changed the song in its entirety. My lesson here was delays can pave way for greater outcomes! I'm very excited for my first song under Sovereign Records called "Higher Now" which will be released in June 2022.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm working on finessing my first original piece; it has been built for collaboration with another artist. This one really stemmed from the emotion of a power ballad with the hopes of finding the perfect home to turn it into a high energy EDM hit!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Robbie Rosen; a true musical genius and honest mentor! I've had the absolute privilege having Robbie in my corner not only as coach and producer, but a friend. I've trusted Robbie with so much of my growth and strength of my sound because he simply knows how to push me to my potential and I trust his level of expertise as the incredibly talented vocalist he is, as well as producer.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: My promise is to over-deliver while remaining open to feedback! This is critical! I'm not perfect, however, I have really high expectations of myself, amidst the fact that there is always room for me to improve. A solid team means trust, and never settling, until the vision has come together! I don't believe in mediocracy so I can promise you won't get that working with me.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: The minute I can say I sing, write and perform as my full time job I will cry tears of joy. Singing is so much more than performance for me; it's my expressive outlet! I feel understood! I am a generator who often connects very deeply with people, places, and things. Singing takes me there; through both and individual and collaborative experience. I also view this as a time for me to problem solve and color outside the lines, so to speak...

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: The biggest misconception about what I do from anyone, be it family, friends, etc, is that there is one direct path I must be taking. Becoming an artist is also a misconception; just because someone is gifted with an artistry, such as being vocally blessed, does not make you an artist. Becoming an artist is a series of unfoldings. Your gifts and talents will take shape and form through various opportunities and growth that ulitmateley shape your career

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Be very honest in your expectations and your vision! I'm a big picture thinker and will bounce ideas off of you until we get it right! Don't hold back! I want to give you my absolute best execution.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: I would need my phone, two back up chargers, my mic, and laptop to feel decently safe and sane!

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I am a multifaceted creative and classically/professionally training singer. I have a performance arts degree and moved to New York City the fall of 2016 with absolutely no plan and the ultimate ambition of a true hustler. I've accumulated many jobs and roles in both the hospitality and fitness industry and am currently in true aspirational transition of a full time artist/creative. I view myself as an entrepreneur...a multipreneur.

  19. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  20. A: DJ KHALED- his vision is crazy as artist and producer! He knows talent when he hears talent and he has worked with so many outstanding artists from multiple backgrounds/genres, and he is able to showcase the vision of how their adversity and dream is the life that is inside all of us. To be a female topline vocalist for Odeza, Louis The Child, and Cash Cash would be wild. I've always been so draw in to their artistry; they all really know how to highlight a strong female vocal with a smooth, yet powerful beat. As for female powerhouses; Beyonce, Jesse J. Alessia Cara, Sabrina Claudio, and Sia would be an unimaginable dream. I have a very soft spot for ballads that go beyond just sounding beautiful. These leading ladies have taken melodic lines to levels that seem unreachable and I desire to reach that level of sound and power and storytelling, too!

  21. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  22. A: DO NOT OVER DO IT WITH THE AUTO TUNE! Pitching is of course necessary, mixing is more important. Artist should be able to sing the song live with little intonation issues and successfully. This is my humble opinion. Don't over do it.

  23. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  24. A: I have been focusing primarily on pop/EDM top lines! I have no cap to what I try to do. I know my strengths but am stylistically diverse and open to many types of musical styles.

  25. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  26. A: Oof this is tough- Honestly, my ear. I think having a super strong ear I can confidently say is my strongest skill...because this has everything to do with my sound :)

  27. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  28. A: I bring emotion and power to any song... I have a unique softness to my belt
