Ohnorr

R&B - Afrobeat Producer

Ohnorr on SoundBetter

I make soulful R&B beats with house and drill fusion sometimes.. inspired by Kaytranada and Brent Faiyaz, to elevate your vocals to the next level. With 5 years of production experience, I blend 2000s Timbaland bounce with modern R&B, creating tracks that resonate on Spotify and beyond. My process is collaborative: I provide high-quality WAV stems.

I turn your vision into streaming hits. Based in Lagos, Nigeria, with over 4 years of professional experience, I specialize in sounds like Wizkid, Tems, Omah Lay, Odeal, Frank Ocean, Kaytranada, KWN and 6lack, blending R&B’s emotive melodies with Afrobeats’ infectious rhythms. I work with local and global artists via Instagram, YouTube and SoundBetter, delivering radio-ready tracks with meticulous sound selection. My services include crafting custom beats from scratch, building production around your lyrics (even rough phone demos) and remixing/enhancing existing songs. Passionate about innovation, I stay current with production techniques and offer flexible revisions to ensure 100% satisfaction. DM me to discuss your next hit, let’s create something unforgettable!

Interview with Ohnorr

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project I’m really proud of was an Afro-fusion track I produced for an up-and-coming collective. They came in with just a melody idea and I built the entire beat around it from the drums to the arrangement. It got a great response online and for me, seeing someone’s raw idea turn into a polished.. that’s the best part.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now, I'm working on a few Afrobeat and R&B projects for indie artists adding live percussion, arranging vocals and locking in those summer vibes.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yeah, I’ve come across a few talented people on SoundBetter I’d definitely recommend, especially for vocals, mixing and live instrumentation. If you tell me what you’re looking for, I can suggest someone who fits your vibe.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital.. for the flexibility, speed and endless creative possibilities. I love analog warmth, but digital lets me work fast, experiment more and stay mobile without sacrificing quality.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise is to treat every song like it’s my own.. giving it the attention, creativity and care it deserves, until it sounds and feels just right.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I love most is turning an idea sometimes just a hum or a vibe into a full track that moves people. That feeling when an artist hears the beat and says, ‘That’s the one’… unmatched.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Customer Question: "Can you make a beat that sounds like Wizkid?" My Answer: "Absolutely! Just send me a couple of reference tracks so I can lock in the exact sound but I’ll also add my own touch to make it feel original and tailored to you."

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception is that producers just make beats. In reality, we shape the entire sound of a song, its mood, energy and structure. It’s way more than just dragging drums into a loop.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What vibe or emotion are you going for with this track? Do you have any reference songs or artists in mind? Is this for a single, EP, album or something else? Do you already have vocals recorded or do you need help with that too? What's your deadline and budget? Do you want mixing and mastering included? Any specific instruments or sounds you'd like to hear?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Know the vibe you’re going for but stay open to creative input. The best music comes from collaboration, trust and giving the producer space to bring your vision to life in their own unique way.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: If I were stuck on a desert island, I’d take my Laptop, A mic, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, my MIDI keyboard and a pair of Yamaha HS5s. With those five, I could cook up magic anywhere.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started producing about 5 years ago, just messing around on my laptop and making beats for fun. Over time, I got more serious, studied my favorite producers, sharpened my sound and started working with artists. It’s been a journey of passion, lotsss of practice and constant growth.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is a fusion of Afrobeat, soul and modern house.. rhythmic, melodic and always emotion-driven.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I’d love to work with Odeal, his voice carries so much emotion and I feel like my style of production could really complement his soulful, atmospheric sound.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Keep your drums simple but punchy. It creates space for everything else to shine.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work on Afrobeat, R&B, House and Afro-fusion. anything that blends rhythm & soul.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: fusing R&B with almost any genre

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring emotion, that drum bounce/groove and a fresh perspective. Whether it’s drums, melodies or overall vibe, I focus on making the song feel alive and connect with listeners.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I usually start by building the beat based on a vibe or reference. Once the foundation is solid, I layer instruments, arrange the track and add details like FX or transitions. If vocals are involved, I mix around them to make sure everything sits right. Then I finalize with a clean mix and master.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My setup is compact but powerful. I use a HP Elitebook with FL Studio, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface and a pair of Yamaha HS5 monitors. I also use a condenser mic for demos and a few go-to plugins like Analog lab V, RC-20 and FabFilter/Waves for mixing.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by producers like Sarz, Juls and P2J for their Afro-fusion sound and also by international producers like Timbaland and Kaytranada for their creativity and rhythm. Their work pushes me to blend genres and create something fresh.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I produce custom beats, enhance tracks and handle mixing and mastering for artists.
