Daniel Martin on SoundBetter

A Producer should be equally as passionate about your music as you are. With me, we will collaborate on every step of the process to make sure the vision you have for your songs comes to life for the end user.

I'm a Producer, Mix Engineer, and former SONY/ATV Songwriter. I have worked with artists all over the world, won the Los Angeles Music Awards Producer of the Year Award, and am lucky enough to have an amazing set of ears that haven't let me down yet.

One of my biggest skills is helping artists with things like song selection, pre-production, production, and crafting their original sound. I've been producing artists professionally for over 15 years and have garnished a handful of #1 iTunes chart-topping songs as well as over 100 million streams. I'm also a multi-instrumentalist, allowing me to save you money by playing as many parts as possible on your song.

I'll make sure the process is easy from start to finish, answering any questions you have along the way. Deposits are 50% up-front and the rest due at your first mix delivery.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Daniel Martin is a fantastic, talented and creative producer and songwriter. He has co-written 7 songs with me and produced each one. He also utilized his creativity to develop my website. All of my songs are featured on the brilliant website.Because he is such a great producer, he knows how to translate that knowledge and experience into exactly what emphasizes my songwriting talent. Also, when I had an issue with one of the songs, Daniel came up with a creative solution that established that song as a fan favorite on my website. Daniel is the only producer I will use.

Daniel Martin recorded and produced one of Alone Together's singles. His creative genius is apparent, but what really impressed me was his patience with a teenage band new to the studio scene. Despite his high level of skill, he took the time to guide and support them, resulting in a fantastic musical outcome.

I've worked with Daniel on multiple projects. He even recorded a song for my grandpa to play at my wedding. His equipment, knowledge and understanding are just flat out phenomenal. He's an amazing engineer / producer and an even more amazing person. One of the coolest people I've ever met. And the more time you spend in the industry the more you realize how uncommon that really is. If you're looking to record or in need of a producer don't think twice about hitting him up. You will not regret it. The effort and time he puts in comes from a deep love of his craft. 5 stars

Dan was able to provide me with exactly what I was looking for. I just wanted a basic acoustic/solo feel and he nailed it. Provided a comfortable atmosphere for when I messed up, locked in tempos with ease, professional. Knows what he is doing. Been at it a long time.

Daniel is our guy for everything from recording to producing and song writing. We have been making music for years, but it wasn't until we met Daniel that we finally had a process that we love and a sound we can truly call our own. He always goes above and beyond to make any project he's working on the best it can be. We will be working with Daniel as long as we are making music and are proud to have him involved with all of our musical endeavors!

I have worked with Daniel on 4 CD projects now and I keep coming back to him because he is an amazing producer/ musician. I don't want to have anyone else producing my songs. He is so talented and always makes my songs sound so good. He hears parts that really add a special touch to my songs and elevates them to great. I feel so lucky to have found Daniel when he had a studio in Anaheim. I don't know where my songs would be without him! Another great thing about working with Daniel, is that he is a champion of indie artists. He works within their budgets and he always gives 110%. He's the best

Interview with Daniel Martin

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I did a song for an artist name Molly Stevens. I helped write it, produce it, and mix it. The song was really special. I felt like the words just poured out in a room with some amazing people. We recorded it at Dark Horse in TN and the entire day was perfection. Everything about the writing, to the production was inspiring and motivating.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Some really fun stuff. I have a project with a girl named Adelynn that is going to be amazing. She could very well be the next Taylor Swift.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not yet, but I'll keep an eye out!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both! I love a good analog preamp into the box. The grit and saturation of analog are the best, but the convenience of getting it into a digital format makes it easier for everyone.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: To serve their song to the best of my ability and to give them something they can feel confident presenting to the world as their art.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: The people. Every completed song is the product of a labor of love by a team of amazingly creative people that I don't ever take for granted.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: How much? My answer is always "how much can you afford?", because honestly, I don't want money to be the reason why people don't make music.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That it's glamorous. Ha! While I do get to work in some beautiful studios making music with artists that have had successful careers, it's definitely long days of figuring out exactly how you're going to make something out of thin air!

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What are your expectations for your song? Do you know what you want it to sound like? How involved do you want to be outside of your own performance?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Look for someone that you can trust. Experience is really important. If someone has been in the industry a long time, they've probably earned it by being trustworthy and easy to work with. Most difficult people don't make it very far in this business.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: My Slate ML1 microphone because of its versatility, a really solid pair of headphones, my Gibson acoustic guitar, an interface and my computer.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have been a professional music producer for 15 years. I started in punk rock bands at the age of 13 and over time I realized that touring and live performance wasn't for me as much as being in the studio was. I attended Fullerton College where I learned the basics of the recording arts, then onto UCLA where my professor encouraged me to keep going. I've built, maintained, and operated multiple studios along the way, services over 500 artists, and written countless songs. I was formerly published by SONY/ATV, a part of my career that taught me a lot about the industry and what I could do to push forward. As of now, I'm going strong and am proof that a lot of sacrifice and hard work pays off.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Fun and easygoing. I don't take anything too seriously. Even when the budgets are high and the pressure is on. It's music....it should be fun for everyone involved and it's my job to keep spirits up.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Chris Stapelton. While I would probably be super intimidated and nervous, I have some songs that I think he would crush and I would be able to produce. There's just something about his voice that shakes me to the core every time I listen.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Don't be afraid to start over. Sometimes you make one wrong move that throws off the whole song, and that's okay. Save a copy and start fresh. You'll be surprised at how a restart can give you a fresh perspective on a song, whereas continuing down the wrong path will always keep you second-guessing about the final product.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I do a lot of country music as well as pop, rock, and folk.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Production. I can hear a song in my head before we even start laying down tracks. From there, all I have to do is get everyone aligned to lay down the parts that make it come to life.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Honesty. I always focus on the song, it's message, and it's story and make sure that both myself and the artist are always serving the song over our individual wants for it. I help reshape lyrics to make sure the story has integrity as well as being free from grammatical errors.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I dive right in. I start with a pre-production listening session with my client to get on the same page about what we're trying to do. We compare song samples, styles and compositions to make sure the end product is in alignment with what they want. From there, we book studio time with the best musicians so we can get the job done right the first time. My biggest concern is that the client is happy the entire time. Creating the recording should be the most enjoyable part of the journey. Once the song has been tracked, I mix on my own time and then give the client the opportunity to critique the mix and make changes.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I have multiple! I'm very fortunate to be around good gear and reliable setups at all times. In my home studio, I am running Pro Tools 2023 on a Mac Studio using a Universal Audio interface, Kemper guitar profiler, Focal monitors, Gibson, Martin, and Fender guitars, as well as the best plugins the industry has to offer. Additionally, I work at studios in Nashville such as East Iris and Dark Horse Recordings, both of which are top-of-line studios here in town. I decide which setup to use based on my client's needs and wants.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Joey Moi is incredible as far as country music production goes, so he's definitely up on top of my list. I'm constantly inspired and in awe of the musicians in the Nashville area. They never cease to amaze me. I, however, inspire to be like Jimmy Iovine. An innovator and someone that shapes the music business for the better as I grow in my craft.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I usually produce songs from start to finish. Sometimes, I even help with the writing portion of the song. I create tracks, hire musicians, book studios, edit, mix and master ensuring the client has everything they need.
