Variety-Genre Songwriting

I have been songwriting for 10+ and have a degree in Creative Writing & Literature. I have studied what makes for compelling and powerful writing and apply this everyday as a singer-songwriter myself.

Hi! I'm Roz - Rosalind Joy on Spotify etc. I am a Manchester based musician, currently hopping around the gigging/busking scene in the city and making my own sombre-pop tunes when I get home. Songwriting has become my main passion. I use it to translate emotion into music using sense-bound imagery, poetic slants and getting creative with movement - to name a few! Despite all of the tips & tricks I have acquired over the years, I believe organic, muse-like inspiration is the most elite creative method, so if an unlikely demo track or instrumental moves me, I will pour my heart and ink into it to make it something special, regardless of the genre! I currently have an urge to write to chill-out, downtempo, EDM, electro-pop and soft-pop, and am keen to indulge in this. But I can always turn my hand to writing to folk and/or acoustic music as this feels most authentic and natural to me.

My debut EP 'Glitch', released last year, is an experimentation with styles and genres; unified by its identity as a mixtape. It is a handy example of how versatile my songwriting can be. This year I am releasing smaller EPs in line with the British seasons. The first two instalments of which, spring & summer, are available to listen to now. The EPs will reflect the mood that each season evokes for me; meaning that my versatility and songwriting muscles are regularly exercised.
