Alexis Soto Jr

Film Composer & Music Producer

Alexis Soto Jr on SoundBetter

I produce cinematic, story-driven music that’s ready for picture — combining film composition with polished music production from sketch to final mix.

Hi! I’m Alexis — a composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist specializing in music for film, TV, and games. I bring a deep musical sensibility to every project, with roots in jazz and Latin music that add warmth, rhythm, and soul to my work.

Whether you need an expressive score, a tight arrangement, or live instrument tracks that breathe, I’ve got you covered. I’m fluent in orchestration and MIDI production, and I love blending live elements like upright bass, guitar, and keys with detailed programming to build cinematic, emotionally-driven soundscapes.

I’ve performed and sung in show bands, party bands, and pit orchestras, and I’ve arranged music for everything from intimate ensembles to full orchestra. I also offer post-audio services like dialogue editing and audio restoration for indie films and video content.

My motto? On Time. On Budget. And always in service of the story.
Let’s bring your vision to life.

Interview with Alexis Soto Jr

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: At the moment I am producing a few tracks for different artists and I am scoring an Indie feature film.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: For a film score, I like to discuss the vision of the client and of the spirit of the project we are going to be working on. Then we spot the film/Ad/etc. Then I come up with some sketches and we go from there. For a track or session, I like to get all the references in order, talk to the client about what sort of sound they are looking for, then create 1-3 different versions to give them options to play with.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: I have a home studio in Los Angeles. I am surrounded by basses, guitars, drum sets, and latin percussion. I've got a modest mic locker with AKG C414s as well as a UA Sphere DLX Modeling mic. These are my work horses and have been reliable for years.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: I’m inspired by an array of artists who make bold moves. Composers like Hans Zimmer, and John Barry showed me how to build emotional landscapes through simple ideas that build. Ludwig Göransson taught me you can be an accomplished film composer as well as a music producer. On production side, legends like Quincy Jones, Nile Rodgers, and Prince taught me the power of groove, arrangement, and sonic identity. I grew up listening to artists like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, and Harry Connick Jr., whose writing style and sounds influenced me. I also have my love for Latin music. Musicians such as Marc Anthony, Ray Barretto, Poncho Sánchez, Chucho Valdés, and Willie Colón are some of my favorites. All of these voices have shaped the way I approach composition, production, and performance.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Most of my work falls at the intersection of film scoring and music production. I’m often hired to compose and produce original music for short films, trailers, or indie features — sometimes starting from scratch, other times building around a director’s temp track or creative brief. I also do custom arrangements, MIDI production, and live instrument tracking (like upright bass or guitar), either to enhance a project or to deliver fully realized, production-ready music. For post-production clients, I handle audio cleanup, dialogue editing, and light sound design to make their final mix shine.
