Interview with Sean Divine
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Mixing and mastering are not the same thing. If the mix is off, mastering can help but it won't miraculously fix everything. In the same way, a great mix can be destroyed by a mastering engineer trying to do too much.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I utilize both. I can achieve a sound and vibe from certain analog gear that I don't get from plugins. Digital keeps sessions and recalls efficient.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I don't take on work unless I believe I can enhance and understand your creative vision. If we work together, I'll treat your song / project as if it's my own and be invested in the outcome as much as you are.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Hiring someone with A-list artist credits is cool. Finding an engineer you can build something new with and that actually understands your music, that's going to be best in the long run.
