Interview with MANNETO

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: My vocals glide like butter on a hot skillet, with a sizzling spice that adds a flavorful punch.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: When it comes to my songwriting process, it really depends on the mood and the type of song I'm working on. Typically, I'll sit or stand and play the instrumental (if there is one) in a loop until I get a sense of the track's vibe. Then, I'll take a break and start writing lyrics that match the feeling of the music.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: In my home studio, I use a Focusrite Scarlett interface, Devine BM-600 microphone, an AMD Ryzen 3 2200G processor, and FL Studio software to create my music. However, when I want to switch things up, I go to another studio that has an Apollo Twin X interface, Logic Pro software, and a Neumann TLM 102 microphone.

  7. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  8. A: Working on 'MAMA SAID' was an incredible experience, from creating the song itself in the south of France to producing the music video in the south of Holland. In the studio, I had the pleasure of working with the amazing Kujo, who was experimenting with the kicks and hi-hats for the instrumental while I sat on wooden stairs, reflecting on a bad breakup. As if possessed, my pen wrote down lyrics that perfectly captured the pain and regret I was feeling, leading to the hook: 'MAMA SAID SHE WAS EVIL!' Kujo and I looked at each other and knew we had something special. The entire song was written in just a few hours, and it was a powerful, emotional journey from start to finish. I was a singer-songwriter for the song and co-created the Concept for the Music Video.

  9. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  10. A: I'm currently doing my own music, as well as collaborating on some tracks. I'm also figuring out the visuals for these projects, and doing some songwriting for other artists too.

  11. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  12. A: Lucas Davies is someone I've worked with in the past! He is incredible at mixing and mastering your tracks.

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: I love everything about it! Writing and creating music is like therapy for me. I can let my guard down, be myself, and let my creativity flow in a safe and non-judgmental space. It's such a blessing to do what I love and connect with others who share my passion for music.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: I'm pretty easy-going, so just be yourself around me! When we're both authentic, we can create something real and genuine together.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: I'd take Connecting wires; an Interface, a laptop (Fl Studio) , a Solar panel and a Microphone.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I'm on a career path to become a multi-faceted artist. I've been a singer-songwriter and producer for the past 6 years, and I'm also exploring my passions for filmmaking and screenwriting.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: I'm drawn to Labrinth's music because it has this incredible ability to transport you to another world. That's something that truly inspires me as an artist, and I believe I share a similar approach to music. Collaborating with Labrinth would be a dream come true, and I know I could learn so much from his unique style and approach to music.

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Sometimes, less is just better.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: The kind of music I work on varies a lot and it can be random. As Michael Jackson once said, 'If I feel it, I'll sing it.' Or maybe it's just my ADHD at work.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: I'd say my singing and knack for catchy melodies are my strongest skills.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: When I write a song, I often see the story unfolding in my mind's eye, almost like a movie. I put myself in the shoes of the characters and experience their emotions, which I then translate into lyrics and melodies. My personal experiences have also greatly influenced my songwriting, and I draw from my own thoughts and emotions to create music that resonates with me and others.

  31. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  32. A: I am inspired by ; Labrinth , Micheal Jackson , Kanye West , Masego , Don Toliver etc.

  33. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  34. A: Showcasing vocal samples and writing songs.

  35. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  36. A: I'm all about that digital life. Don't get me wrong, analog has a certain charm, but when it comes to practicality, digital just wins hands down.

  37. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  38. A: I'll do my best to make sure you're absolutely thrilled with it!

  39. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  40. A: Whenever people ask me how I got into music and how long I've been doing it, I just tell them that I've been passionate about music for as long as I can remember, and it's been over 6 years since I started pursuing it professionally. Music is just something that's always felt right for me, you know?

  41. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  42. A: People often think you need a super fancy studio to make music that sounds professional and ready for the radio, but that's just not the case. It's all about knowing how to use the tools you have, and sometimes, less is actually better.

  43. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  44. A: I usually start by asking them what they have in mind for the song or project. And, I also try to understand what they're hoping to achieve with it. That way, I can tailor my approach to make sure we're on the same page and working towards the same goals.
